And now I am reminded that Resident Evil at times is stupid, case in point here in this trailer, the voice acting. But still this game is gonna be amazing. The Zombie Dogs are back, they are still the exact same Doberman breed and they look absolutely brutal here. And jeez I am seeing a lot of Birkin here. I am still weary of his later transformations because so far they have only shown his first form cleary and minor teases of the second form.

Looks like a remake done properly. Some people might be inclined to dismiss this as nothing more than a graphics and gameplay update. But this is so much more. 20 years of experience in game design and all the progress that's been made resulted in this version. Exciting stuff. Makes me wonder if we'll see something similar with current games 20 years from now.

I am actually hoping we get an RE3: Nemesis out of this. Nemesis needs to be back at the forefront and remind people why he was deemed the most scariest RE monster ever at one point.

(AND YES I GET IT, THE REGENERATORS IN RE 4 ARE ALSO FREAKY)

I'm gonna fucking miss Ada's old voice. The voices in general aren't really doing it for me, they sound way too flat.

I do like how grotesque Birkin looks though, how his hand is no longer just a big claw, but a mutated hunk of flesh with boney protrusions. Still no Mr. X though, eventhough we know he's in there somewhere.

I?m tempted to get this, if no other reason than it being one of my favorite games from the PS1 era. I remember the first time I played it, really not even feeling well. Bad headache and just tired, under the weather. Then I started playing, exploring the Police Station and before long my discomfort seemed to fade away. There was something captivating about it, and even by 5th gen standards it seemed like such a leap from the original. I ended up playing the hell out of it and it?s the only RE I bothered getting a perfect rating for. Both Claire and Leon were fun to play as because the idea of seeing each of their perspectives was brilliantly implemented for the time. Hell there still isn?t much like it to this day. Many have imitated that aspect but to me it?s still the pioneer.

I?ve always generally liked Silent Hill more as a series due to the tone, atmosphere and setting (and I always appreciated being able to walk and shoot simultaneously), but oddly enough I never played any of them as much as I played RE2. Really curious to see how this turns out and I hope it?s as thrilling now as it was back then.

Every time I said that, you claimed that Birkin was more scary.

Not that I deny that Nemesis is scary, and the idea that they could even make his scare factor better in a remake.

Goddammit! Not over-the-shoulder camera again! *sigh* I hope they didn't try to make it more like RE4 any further than that.

Is "just RE2 with better graphics" too much to ask?

You'd think the voice acting would've been improved at this point. How do the actors manage to be even less expressive than their random sleepy intern counterparts from 20 years ago?

Dude I played Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which was the zenith of RE stupidity:

I know, played it too. I think if Resident Evil is "at times" stupid then rain is sometimes wet.

It would be more like HD remastered than proper remake. no one want tank control again. they suck

thats the reason why RE7 is by far best in series. its in first person mean far more immersive game and has better controls.

Unbelievable. This is going to be one of the best games ever. Can't say I'm too fond of Ada looking like a fashion diva, as if she's part of Karl Lagerfeld's posse now. :p But I guess that's Resident Evil.

O.M.F.G....and to think I was actually thinking of playing CV at several points. So glad the mild curiosity always subsided on its own.

I wonder if the tank controls will retain that viewpoint, or if they'll go completely old school with fixed camera angles and free roam tankin'. Hopefully the latter; otherwise what's the point.

It's one of the best classic RE games. You can make anything look stupid with a cringe compilation but you're talking minutes of a game that takes hours to complete. The standards for acting in cutscenes weren't as high about 2 decades ago as they are now. But other than that I think Code Veronica(and RE7) is still the only RE game with a somewhat decent story.

The game's pretty hard though espescially compared to modern standards and the gameplay hasn't aged well so that's the only reason I wouldn't recommend CV to newcomers but compared to the classic games(and how much you enjoyed those) this is still one of the best.

Mechanically speaking it's one of the better old-school REs. It's just that the story is monumentally stupid, even by RE standards.
