when i see a near perfect game (e.i resident evil 4) .. i not only get extremely excited ... i also get sad faic ... :C <---- my sad faic

i get sad faic because i know somewhere deep inside ... that they are gonna struuuuggle to top this .. haha .. so i made it a personal rule never to compare a game to its sequel ... if resident evil 4 haden't existed .. then would we still think 5 sucked this much??

i think it's an excellent game .. fun way to spend a few nights with your friends haha

Everything about RE5 is awesome except for three things:

1.The story. Oh God, the story. I've been over this before in other threads, and I'm just gonna give the short version here. RE5 is where the main series went from self-aware B-movie to Totally Serious SciFi Original Movie.

2.Tacked-on co-op. I know it's great fun to play through with a competent friend, but was it really necessary? I can tell it wasn't originally made to be a co-op game, although it was made into an awesome one. This is RE, not Army of Two. While it worked fine with co-op, I think it could have used a truly solo mode (i.e. no partner at all).

3.Boring. Industrial. Warehouses. This is more of a personal choice, but it still needs to be addressed. They had a really awesome setting at first. The town/savanna/swamp bits were really well-done. Then they go and stick the entire second half of the game in a gray, boring military complex that looks very samey throughout. At least RE4 had the courtesy to only do this for the last third of the game.

I never found Sheva to be a problem on anything other than Professional never gave her a pistol the S75 rifle is much better it only got replaced by an infinite ammo L.hawk

I loved this game, yeah the AI for Sheva was annoying. When she is in defensive mode she for some reason runs behind me and tries to shoot the baddies but instead just shoots me in the back of the head, It doesn't kill my guy its just really annoying.

The story was good but not as good as RE 4's story. idk why but it just doesn't seem to be as captivating as RE 4

The game was quite good in my opinion. Playing co-op with a friend eliminates the only real glaring flaw with the game. The controls do sometimes break flow, but they did design the game around the slightly clunky controls so at least they tried to adapt for the player.

But my major problem is the elitist RE fan one: it doesn't feel like Resident Evil. The added emphasis on action sequences really takes part of the fun out of it for me, but I'm sure some will disagree.

Also, far too many monsters have bullshit one hit kill moves. Reapers and Lickers in particular, I'm sure you know what I mean.

After making a game as brilliant as RE4, I'm surprised that Capcom's follow-up to that is this peice of shit.

RE5 lost a million points right off the bat by going back to the stupid, hole-wridden, impossible-to-take-seriously plot that RE4 thankfully left behind, and it just started going down hill from there by having (not just poor friendly AI):

-A short campaign
-Unintersting characters stereotypes
-Atrocious dialog
-Repetetive levels
-ONE...FUCKING...PUZZLE
-No form of tension

...and it takes the awards of "Most Ridiculous Inventory System", "Most Predictable Plot Twist", and "Most Anti-Climactic Ending" in recent gaming history.

Also, while it's not really a complaint, I found it strange that after denying any form of racism in the development of RE5, Capcom decided to have the second half of the game take place in a series of mud-hut village where the player would fight against canabalistic African bushmen who dress in war paint and grass skirts and chuck spears...And have one of Sheva's unlockable outfits be a leapard skin bikini accesorized with war paint and a necklace made of bones. I'm NOT saying Capcom is racist (stupid more like), but it should raise a few eyebrows.

Thread resurection...damn.
