Oh, and its score on metacritic right now is 69, which as far as games go us roughly equal to a movie's score being in the 30's.

So what's your take on this? Personally I hated the demo, and I find it strangely gratifying when a horror series that just stops trying to be scary in the slightest gets its due. Here's to hoping Dead Space 3 meets the same treatment.

Reviews have been mixed. Personally, I loved the demo, and am looking forward to the game's release. To each their own, I guess

Most of the reviews on Metacritic trend into the positive range, with a handful of "eh" reviews. There are only a few truly piss-poor scores dragging it down, and they seem to mostly be saying the same things as the positive and eh reviews, so it seems the actual score is mostly a matter of opinion (gee, who would have thought). Most of the reviews praise the narrative structure but criticize the quick-time events (both in their number and their awkwardness).

Seems like a good purchase to make, though since I'm on PC I get the shaft until the port is done. So long as the game is longer than 5, and has less vehicle sequences, I'll be quite happy with it.

Jim very gracefully summed up my experience with the god-awful demo, but I was thinking that the game would get glowing reviews due to its "me too" attitude towards games that are rated very well.

Really, if Resident Evil as a franchise is interested in severing its roots, 4 used a pair of scissors while 6 pulled out the giant chainsaw. Sad, really, because I loved 4, and beat it across all kinds of systems.

The reviews seem split down the middle almost.

The only overwhelmingly negative review I've seen was the destructoid one, which was written by Jim Sterling. From what I've experienced in the demo, we're just not on the same page about it.

I mean, I went out and reserved the game AFTER I played the demo. So it definitely does have my approval. And I'm very excited for tomorrow.

I played the demo and actually quite enjoyed it, just me? The controls felt good, much much better than Resident Evil 5. Good atmosphere, at least in Leon's part.

The HUD is pretty cool, though I wish it was the same across the board, instead of different ones. Visuals are good and the character models look great. (Leon's hair, so shiny. *-*)

Also, being able to manually melee is amazing. 'Specially when you get stuck in a crowd of zombies and just kick the shit of 'em.

Ok I'll start off by saying that I haven't played the demo yet because I don't like to play demos because of blah blah but either way why can't you objectively criticize the game instead of comparing it to the rest of the series? Resident Evil was never that scary, so they understood that and took it in a different direction. Is there anything inherently not fun about the demo? I'm asking this because I actually haven't played it and I still plan on picking it up because I'm a big Resident Evil fan.

I've got the game already (found it in the used games section of my local retailer :/) and I'm working my way through Leon's campaign. It's pretty much what the demo was, but with more Michael Bay sequences and more zombie types.

It's meh at best if you ask me.

it's a Jim Sterling review, its credibility is automatically nonexistent. Besides that though the reviews are anywhere from 9's to a 4.5 (though the 4.5 is from Gamespot, another dubious outlet). I'm still getting it since I liked the demo and am a fan of the series.

GT gave it an 8.8, and I think IGN gave it like a 7.9, or something(but who gives a fuck about IGN). Anyway, I had a feeling that the game would flop, and I'm also willing to bet that the series gets rebooted after this.

I read Jim Sterling's review. It was pretty funny. I have a feeling I'd have the same opinion about the game.

Resident Evil has always been divisive. Every single installment is met with: "They're ruining the franchise." or "Resident Evil is dead to me."

I've been watching this behavior since Resident Evil 3 came out. It's always the same dance, yet in spite of it all, each entry has high presentation. Many core fans still enjoy it, and many new ones too. One of the biggest complaints is the trend toward "action", where each time a new Resi Evil comes out, they add more maneuvers and "Michael Bay", etc. I used to be part of that criticism, but I now sort of embrace it.

What I took away from the demo at first was, "This is awful, it's too different, the controls are bad." Then I remember this is how I felt with all games in the series. It's always a "slow burn", it grows on you.. then suddenly you realize the controls are actually easy to learn, but hard to master. Now in 6, there is much, much more to master. Not sure how I feel about the over-prevalence of infected with guns.. but to be fair, this trend started with Resi 4.

I've had it pre-ordered for PS3 about a few months now, and getting it tomorrow. Cannot wait. I'll also be getting two copies when the crossover drops on PC, so my friend and I can co-op.

I've only read EGs 6/10 and Jim's 3/10 and judging from the demo i'ld agree with them, I couldn't stand to play it. (and I thought RE5 was OK, not great but enjoyable)

I can see tons of comparisions with Resi 6 and how SEGA has handled sonic over the years, I wouldn't be surprised if later into the game Leon and all his friends to have a big birthday party and eat some hotdogs.

What remains to be seen is if Capcom will do anything about it, or just leave the fans pissing into the wind for a over a decade.

This doesn't suprise me.

Resident Evil is the type of game you're either passionate about or not.

A few of my cousins love the genre and await RE 6 with bated breath.

I personally have never played a RE game through and don't intend to.

I played the second, a bit of the third, after that i played RE4. RE5 wasn`t my game and i discovered that i can`t overlook the crazy story telling anymore.

I tried the RE6 demo and the intro of Leons campaign was enough to decide that it isn`t a game for me. The whole mr.president part was just to corny.
Uhmm, Mr.Kennedy, you don`t have to let him this close, he`s a zombie, he doesn`t listen to you, he just wants to eat brains now...
...HELOOOHOOO Mc.FLY you already shot hundreds of zombies and after that you shot hundreds of infested spanish villagers. Now you hesitate because this obvious zombie in front of you was the president?

On the plus side i read that the game is quite long and has it`s moments, instead of being a grumpy i-net ass about it, have fun everyone who bought and like it.

Huh whodathunkit? A story written by Capcom with generic as hell gameplay equals shit.

Just kidding, calling the scribbling in Resident Evil a story is an insult to stories.

My biggest complaint with the game is that Jake Muller is...well...Jake Muller. He should have been Alex Wesker- It would have fit the plot just as well (Considering that Alex Wesker is, for all intents and purposes, biologically immortal- his blood would be pretty damn special I'd imagine) without need an asspull 'what' character in the form of Wesker's son.

There were a few other problems, like how enemies in Jake/Sherry's campaign would freeze and become invulnerable while transforming so you had no choice but to sit and wait there until it's finished so you can finally shoot the thing. Inline with that, you can't shoot zombies playing dead and actually injure them like in RE4/5, which is something that upset me- Being genre savvy enough to recognize a trap should have some kind of reward. The brightness settings also left something to be desired, but that might just be my TV sucking.

That being said, I enjoyed the demo and will be attending the midnight release to get my copy. I haven't missed a Resident Evil game yet and I'm not about to start now.

But only because for some reason, people don't understand how ratings work. :/

I think we should just scrap the system and do what youtube did. Either thumbs up or thumbs down. Everything in between seems to be wasted.
