Resident Evil 6

The trailer for RE6 has been released and I wanted to see what my fellow The Escapist think about it.

Pretty much since RE4 Resident Evil stopped being a horror game and just turned into a shooter, but Chris's and that horribly generic new character's gameplay looked like they gave up fun shooting for the shitty cover based kind. Leon [small][sub]is not only the best looking character but also[/sub][/small] looks like he has the best gameplay IMO. Mostly because there is not a single chest high wall in sight and the CQC moves look fun and mixes it up.

Not to mention we all know Capcom has been going after the CoD audience and this game seems to prove it. What is your opinion on it?

Looks like Resident evil 4 but with the actual G-Virus being the thing infecting the people. And no partner!? Ok yes I am now interested.

I'm just glad they finally decided to bring back actual zombies. May only be with Leon from what i can tell, but at least it's freaking progress from the amount of mutants we shoot in 4 and 5. I'm honestly looking forward to Leon's levels only, though this new guy looks a little promising, so hopes up that his levels are worth the purchase price.

Reserving judgement until I see some actual gameplay that hasn't been cut into half-second fragments and spliced with bits of cutscene.

After all, the gameplay is the only ting that could possibly get my interest. It's not like any sane person parts with actual currency to experience the story of a Resident Evil game.

I admit it look pretty cool. Although it's very unlikely but I would like to see a reunion with Chris and Claire.

Being as they straddled this A.I. partner-garbage onto even the new handheld release, I'll need to see an official comment stating that there are no A.I. Partners in this one before I give a rats arse.

Resident Evil 5 still stands as one the worst games I've ever played. At no point did I enjoy anything that game had to offer. And everything I dislike was introduced to accommodate the A.I. Partner.

If they drop that bullshit, I'm happy to jump back on board. However, from what I see, Leon has a partner, Chris has three, and even the generic "Bald Head White Guy with an Attitude and (most likely) tribal tattoos" character seems to have someone with him at every moment in that trailer.

We'll see. It looks promising, but until I see game play footage or play it myself, I won't make any premature judgement calls just yet.

Is there a new law that says we can no longer have good female characters? That we can only play roid rage sausage fests and dumb damsels in distress (seriously, fuck you Ashley). Where is Jill, or Claire, or even Rebecca?

resi 4 is still one of my all time favourites, and resi 5 was ok i guess. i put a lot of time in it because i enjoyed the gameplay, and a lot of the time i played co-op with either a friend or girlfriend. personally this looks pretty awesome, i'l liking leons stuff, and the new guy seems interesting, but chris has never been a favourite of mine...

i will most likely get it, but future footage will decide if i preorder or not

I think it looks great so far based on one trailer (I really need to stop instantly getting excited for games from just one trailer). I am wondering who the new guy is. Is he going to be Alex Wesker or a returning character who for some reason changed their hair color and is evil now. I do like that Chris is actually going to go into a situation properly prepare and not just with a handgun, and I want to see more of the dodging mechanic. One thing I am not a huge fan of is the return of enemies with guns. That was the worst part in 5, but I am hoping that most of them will be small and quick fights between enemies with guns that switch over to more fighting BOWs or zombies instead. Either way unless I run into money problems, probably a day of purchase for me.

Hopefully this game ties up a few loose ends, such as what happened to Sherry.

That's an interesting thought didn't Wesker mention something about Steve's body being taken away? Maybe it is him but only revived and superhuman. Or could it be Billy from Resident Evil 0? I'm not sure what happened to him after the events of that game.

I'm extremely excited. To be honest, the only Resident Evil games I've played were 4 and 5, but I loved both of them. The gameplay looks really smooth and it even though it was probably just the way the trailer was set up, but it actually looks like it's trying to be a bit more scary than 4 or 5.

I'm definitely buying this day one.

Of the resident evil games I have played 4 & 5 suck bawls. No zombies and no aspects of horror? resident evil cast and name but not resident evil content.

1 & 2 were pretty decent, low ammo, low saves and plenty of scares.

3 is by far the best! Had the nemesis skulking round and you never knew when he was going to burst through a door or window.

You had that almost quick time event thing, where it gave you 2 or 3 options and you had to choose which path to take and you could make it wait, so it would go from green to yellow to red (the death) and it was a nice way to break the linearity.

It's merc mode was pretty good as well, although there as only 1 guy an average person could use.

This game looks like another 4 & 5 just with zombies. They aren't horror games any more, they are action games ... to be lumped in with gears, COD and uncharted.

I think it looks quite good, but just about anything can look good with a decent trailer. Nevertheless, I will quietly look forward to it.

Well the trailer certainly looks interesting, aside from all the times someone takes cover in it.

I'll probably be keeping an eye out for more information about it (Mainly the fighting mechanics and potential companions) but at least it seems to actually feature zombies (Unlike 5)

It looks alright, i liked RE4 and 5 was ok. I suppose if Wesker's in it i might buy this one. I mean who doesn't like Wesker?

Well I was never big on these games because the scariest part were always controls, to me it looks surprisingly identical to the previous games, only this time more Gears of Evil 6 and less racist
