I'm excited because it means that Cryoatic and Jesse Cox are gonna do another Let's Play together. Their RE6 LP was a thing of beauty.

Looks pretty good(reminded me a bit of the new Outlast game as well. :p). After the backlash of RE6 and the comparative success of RE Remake re-release Capcom seem to finally look back into the actual good games of their Resident Evil catalogue(particularly RE Remake and the rural vibe of RE4). The games after RE4 were pretty crap but reason is not just the change of focus into action(and loss of atmosphere) but also the complete lack of a coherent vision or sense of direction for the series. Hopefully RE7 will be more than a half-assed collection of poorly implemented ideas. Resident Evil unfortunately never recovered from Shinji Mikami's departure from the series(either as director or producer).

But yeah, atleast this already looks tons better than anything else they produced in the last 10 years.

Well, it sure looks more interesting than anything RE-related they've made in the last.. 10 or so years.

And they're certainly moving in the right direction with VR, making it a viable option, and not "Resident Evil: VR" route.

Umm...

Wait, are they actually calling it Resident Evil VII Biohazard or did some journalist had a brainfart?

Wow...well that wasn't a direction i was expecting. Looked pretty atmospheric too, except that bit where the tree-tunnel expanded, that was very 'tv movie fake scary' On the whole though i'll definitely be prepared to give this a chance!

Saw the Demo in Jim's channel. Its Outlast. Just...straight up its Outlast. I mean its actually sorta shocking how little they're trying to hide it.

It has nothing to do with Resident Evil. Its just some creepy hillbilly dude with a knife, and ghosts.
Not a zombie or Umbrella is sight.
I'm willing to bet this was a completely different game in development, everyone saw the backlash Resident Evil 6 got, and then a huge scramble to just buy a pre-made horror game and slap RE on it. Boom! Back to basics with a legit scary game that doesn't look, feel, play, or have anything to do with Resident Evil at all.
But we'll call it a tangential story about, I dunno, the start of the Las Plagas outbreak.

It's called Resident Evil VII: Biohazard and Biohazard 7: Resident Evil outside and inside Japan.

Outlast had no weapons, though, which is a significant difference. This will very likely have firearms in the final game, since there is an option for aim assist.

Also, I'm reminded of how Resident Evil was a shameless Alone in the Dark ripoff and Capcom pretended otherwise for years.

Maybe if I refer to this game as Condemned 3 it will fill the gaping hole in my heart Monolith refuses to fill.

That implies Capcom likes any of the properties they have apart from Street Fighter...

Well they did screw up with SFV.

Wonder if they will bring it up at E3.

Nowhere but up after Resident Evil 6, amirite?
Haven't played RE6, so maybe it truly is worse, but are we really counting RE6 as a weaker installment than Gaiden or Survivour?
Haven't played either but those are spin-offs (and in Gaiden's case, non-canon). RE6 is the worst of the main instalments.

Just come back to say that, after trying the demo, this could be very much what the resident evil franchise needs. A huge kick up the arse in the right direction. Do not fear change, seedlings, it is only gaming, not sacred religious rituals. Plus I was losing hope in Capcom until now, now there may be a glimmer of a shimmer of a future. That will also probably crumble within a couple of sequels. Oops, positive, Xsjadoblayde, positive!.

So we're playing a new guy now? Not one of the many established characters in the franchise?

Quite enjoyed the demo. I agree that if I didn't know better I would have assumed this is the intro level to that new Outlast game but regardless it was pretty good. They nailed the atmosphere in my opinion. It's so different from RE6 it's like night and day. Hopefully this is indeed just intended to set the mood for the final game and RE7 isn't just an Outlast clone but this most likely won't be the case.

But anyways, really looking forward to the game now!

I loved the look of this trailer and loved watching Harshly Critical play it on Youtube.

This is a great step in the right direction. And i'm saying that as an old fan of Resi Evil from back in the days of the original. Everything since 4 had been a huge fail to me, but this looks fresh and interesting.

The demo and the final game are quite different. The real main character hasn't been revealed yet, but will be a newcomer, apparently. The game will almost certainly have guns, since there is an aim assist setting. So yea, the demo is very likely the KITCHEN concept fleshed out with some loose ties to RE7. RE7 is going to be first person, though. That much isn't in doubt.
