This seems to me kinda like all the hub-bub that was raised about "having to buy potions in DA:I's multiplayer". If you're the type of person that wants to throw money at the difficulty of a game to make it easier then...well...you kinda deserve to have your money pissed away in such a manner.
That said, I do think it's a pretty shitty practice to make a game with built-in grinding and have a paid "express lane" to skip past the grinding. That's the difference between DA:I and this. After a single round of DA:I, you'll have plenty enough in-game cash to restock on potions and have some left over to save up for your next equipment pack. This game sounds like you're going to have to grind away at "daily missions" if you want some life crystals to take into Raid Mode.
Or you could always nut-up and play it with no continues, the lady in the article said that after 6 raid missions she had only died once at the very end of one of them. So it certainly doesn't sound like dying is all that much to worry about provided you're decent at the game.
Personally I'd say the most surprising thing about all this is that people are still playing Resident Evil games. Hey-ohhhhh! :3
