The only issue with this approach is that will Capcom realize the low sales were due to their business practices with that title? Or will they assume that the game or the RE franchise is just not as popular as it used to be?
I meant it more in context of "don't buy those stupid life crystal using microtransactions". It might help, but I'm cynical about it, considering there are people out there that paid a full or an almost full retail price for a game demo (yes, I'm talking about Ground Zeroes).

This seems to me kinda like all the hub-bub that was raised about "having to buy potions in DA:I's multiplayer". If you're the type of person that wants to throw money at the difficulty of a game to make it easier then...well...you kinda deserve to have your money pissed away in such a manner.

That said, I do think it's a pretty shitty practice to make a game with built-in grinding and have a paid "express lane" to skip past the grinding. That's the difference between DA:I and this. After a single round of DA:I, you'll have plenty enough in-game cash to restock on potions and have some left over to save up for your next equipment pack. This game sounds like you're going to have to grind away at "daily missions" if you want some life crystals to take into Raid Mode.

Or you could always nut-up and play it with no continues, the lady in the article said that after 6 raid missions she had only died once at the very end of one of them. So it certainly doesn't sound like dying is all that much to worry about provided you're decent at the game. :p

Personally I'd say the most surprising thing about all this is that people are still playing Resident Evil games. Hey-ohhhhh! :3

So you can use crystals in the game type Raid (which is the traditional 'Mercenaries') to extend your play session?

Raid/Mercenaries being the post-campaign pure combat focused high score chasing sub-mode.

And the crystals are attainable in game, in daily challenge format leading to crystals being a sustainable free resource?

Oh man, you guys are right, this is so horrible and awful and the worst. Where do I get my pitchfork and torch?

It's a disturbing trend I think that the core game design has changed specifically to accommodate micro-transactions.

This mode could surely have been designed in a way where you could retry as many times as you want or otherwise earn your fun. Remember Super Mario? 100 coins got you an extra life.

But now you get a set amount of lives and can only obtain more by connecting to an online service (Because that is most assuredly what "Daily Challenge" entails - Which has the added bonus of becoming completely unusable once the servers shut down) for a freebie or paying for each continue.

I think I've said all I can on this topic by now, but let me end on this:

You are not paying for a service. You are paying for imaginary content that only exist to make them money.

Don't support this. Don't buy this game. If you support these practises, they will go even further next time and if we don't say no now, by the time we object, this will already have become the standard.

But you can retry as many times as you like without consequence. The life gems are continutes. As in 'Shit, I died, Im not giving up on this run, life gem time!'

Do you people even read your own source material? Or just go into frothing rage at the word 'microtransaction' and see no need for further exploration?

Even if they're minimalistic and non-intrusive, the mere presence of them makes me groan in exasperation.
