Get RE:4 it's superior to RE: 5 in every way that matters...<.<

Only good if you have a friend.

I played it by myself, and it was nigh depressing. With a friend, you can make fun of it, making it very fun.

it looks a little linear, there it doesn't look like there is a lot of sandbox or replay value.

It's definitely different.
Controls are fiddly to start with, but you'll probably get used to 'em. Unless you've played Resident Evil 4, then you probably already know 'em.
I could only go through the campaign two or three times before I got bored, but it's fun to come back to now and then.
Mercenaries mode has the same problem; fun for a while but starts to get samey.

Summariseryification;
It's good, but you'll probably get bored. But it stays good for ages and is probably pretty cheap now anyway.
So, yes. Buy it.

Although get a pal if you want all the trophies/achievements. AI Sheva will be less than useless when you get to the hardest difficulty.

Considering you can buy the base game for $10-15 right now on Amazon, it is definitely worth it. The game is much, much better with a friend, but even playing through by yourself is worth it. There is a decent amount of replayability with using and upgrading different weapons as well.

It's an amazing game. best with a friend, but you can just do that online with a stranger. of course it's linear! most of the best games these days are. but like l4d, the friend aspect makes it a bit more replayable. overall, not as good as re4, but still awesome.

Just a friendly heads up, if you want someone to see that you've replied to them, hit quote. Ignore reply 100% on this forum, it does nothing. When you quote someone it sends a message, with a link to the post that's quoted them. A good little tip for a new escapist

Well, look. It catches a lot of flak for being nothing like a Resident Evil game, but the truth is, it's a great game. It really is. Especially if you can play with a friend.

My friend and I played co-op over the net, on PC, and it was great.

(However, the story is ridiculous, so try not to give it much thought.)

A definite "Don't Buy, but possibly rent?" it's fun, but you could get Dead Space instead. A better story and atmosphere with the exact same gameplay.
