There is seriously nothing about this game anywhere except for a bad IGN review.
Anyone here played it so I know if it's worth getting?

I played it a bit, it's alright in my opinion, but guessing you like stuff such as "Tales of Vesperia" (only guessing this from you're profile picture) you might like it.

I'd rent and see though, and buy the full game if it takes your fancy.

GamesTM or Gamesmaster (forget which it was I read it in) hgave something like a 75%, which is normally decent rental, but they said compared to aspects of FF13, that Tri-Ace had made something excellent.

EDIT: Gamesmaster UK, 80% (Graphics 61%, with nice towns, but overall crap compared to FF13, Gameplay 80%, and Lifespan a massive 91%)

Tough, they said, but worth it.

Yeah, I'd be happy renting, thanks to Blockbuster I'm renting a lot now but they aren't renting Yakuza 3 and I doubt they'll rent Resonance but I'll ask on Friday when I return Heavy Rain.

Most games put out by Tri-ace are usually very good, so I doubt it could be too bad.

I'll be purchasing it as soon as I get back from college for the semester (no decent games stored near me right now), and from what I've seen and read it should be a solid JRPG with some really unique combat.

I found it enjoyable, but challenging and the battle system reminded me a bit of the latest final fantasy. Definitely the jrpg I've had the most fun with for a while. You could probably do a lot worse.

There's a review over at gametrailers if you want to check it out a bit more.

I think it's pretty awesome. In a way, it's sort of a spiritual successor to Valkyrie Profile. It's certainly innovative; the combat system is weird and completely unique. The game is not without its flaws, however: the graphics are sub-par, and while the system is very fresh, it doesn't change much as the game progresses, and it can be tough to figure out how everything works at first due to some really crappy tutorials. The characters are stupid JRPG cliches just like in any other game, but their antics are minimized by the fact that there's just not much plot to the game. The story definitely takes a backseat to the gameplay. For me, that's just fine, because I'm a gameplay dude, and RoF's gameplay is fun and funky. Don't get me wrong, the game does have a plot, and from what I've seen so far it's not an especially bad one.. but people who enjoy lavish & bountiful cutscenes may well be disappointed. If you're interested, you should watch some gameplay videos and see if the combat system looks like the kind of thing you'd enjoy, because that's what the majority of the game is. Or you could rent it, if you can find a place that carries it, which seems unlikely.

I'd give it an 8.5 or so outta 10, weighted towards my personal standards, but I'm not surprised it's gotten a buncha 6's and 7's. Kind of a niche thing. (Tho it irritates me how many reviews said the game "requires grinding", because that's just not true if you strategize properly.. hmph.)

I picked it up the other day and have played it for around 4 hours so far it seems pretty average to me, usually i pick up a game and play 4 hours the day i get it. I just don't find myself putting RoF on it hasn't really grabbed my interest and usually i am a huge fan of JRPG's, Definitely a rent before you buy game in my opinion.

Lol this pretty much confirms I'd have to play it first, how would you best describe the battle system, I wanna give it a go but £45 is a big risk when I've not much to go on and no western demo...(silly jrpg hate)

Hmm I've never got the grinding thing really. I think people try and become gods on jrpgs and just grind, I've never done that and I'm a pretty big jrpg fan.

I'd definitely recommend it. If you're looking for a game that gets straight into the story, then RoF isn't your game, I've only got to the first real bit of story, and that's in Chapter 6(Before that, there is hints at it, but it's not really explained in detail) which is quite far in if you do side quests too. That said, the cutscenes between the characters are amusing. The battle system is quite fun though, in the beginning it might try your patience as it doesn't really explain the battle system well, and so it's a case of working it out for yourself but once you understand the battle system then it gets fun. As long as you swap peoples weapons around, you don't really need to grind either, not so far anyway. Unless you want to do the extra dungeon, which requires you to be level 100-150, not neccesary though. There's plenty of side quests each chapter, and also an arena to keep you going also.

You could always try the japanese demo if you have a japanese xbox live/PSN account... That gives a good taster into the gameplay, although you'll have to try figure out the controls yourself, because the controls are in japanese, hah.
