To take all the money in your pocket right now and invest it in a mutual fund while technically more practical than say using it to buy ice cream for your girlfriend and yourself, is not exactly situationally responsible, especially if you're currently standing beside your girlfriend.

I think the show "My name is Earl" did a great thing for the world. It got many people, including myself, who would have never believed in karma interested in it. And yes, Rammstein is phenomenal. I ahd heard they were banned from performing in the US, so I got a rush when i heard they were gonna do a show nearby.

Great show...it was when I was studying asian religion that got me interested in Karma. By studying I mean in my spare time when bored, not because I was doing it for school.

Wish Rammstein would come over to Glasgow for a gig one day. From what I remember, 1998 they were fined when playing the song Buck Dich on stage for indecent exposure. They have been hesitant to play in the states again.

Sometimes the practical choice is the responsible one. It may have been for you, because if you just drove off, the people would have called the cops on you, thus giving you a criminal record and a punishment that would cost you more than it would've if you just pay the insurance.

So is it nasty bill or punishment and criminal record that will come back to haunt you? You chose the former, which is, in my opinion, the wiser choice.

Either way, this situation sucks balls for you and I can sympathize with you as a fellow Person Completely-Without-Money.

Driving off would have been a very stupid thing to do, you did the right thing bro! Note that you're not going to somehow get something back, it was an irresponsible thing to do in the first place so the consequence is something you kinda deserve.

Personally, and going against the moralistic wave of responses on this topic, i would've driven off from a 2.1k debt.

Then again, im a law student so morality and decency is pretty much stripped from us on our first year.
