I didn't have to put him to sleep but my dog Stumpy died when he was 15 years old. I knew it was around his time because he could barely bark and move around but it still saddened me because he walked into my room and died at my feet. I cried for a good few hours.

What a weird coincidence - my colleage's girlfriend had to put her 19-year-old cat down on Wednesday due to severe health issues. She was devastated, as I imagine you are.

While never having to put one of my own/an animal to sleep, I watched as a man gave his two beloved cats to an animal hospice (I was working there on work experience) because his wife didn't want them in the house. He looked absolutely gutted, my heart went out to the poor man.

My cat Misha died of a liver failure at 19. She'd been alive longer than I had, and I'd grown up with her, I was really sad to see her go.

My 13 year old dog had three fits (seizures)in 14 hours and had to be put to sleep in November, I was at my part time job at the time. I cried for about 3 hours after.

I had to put one cat to sleep due to injuries from a coyote, one dog from her being 120 in dog years, and recently, one cat from cancer. All three of them I cried over, for about a day.

I wouldn't put my pet to sleep because of a sickness, I view euthanasia as murder unless consent is given, and animals cannot give consent.
No mercy then? Pain and suffering is good then?
That's exactly what euthanasia is, killing something because you feel sorry for it.
Well suffering in your last days in total pain isn't feeling sorry it's mercy. Big difference there. So what about pain meds and treatment? Animals can't give consent on those so is that no ok?

Well, we had this dog a mix between some species, they said hed grow to be about middle sized, but he didnt care much about that and grew to be enormous, and far to strong to be handled. He worn out chains in a few days, and ran of chasing cats and such, but it went to far and he got too agressive, so we had to give him the needle. We gave him some chocolate he loved it, scratched him behind the ears, then we put him out.

I'm so sorry for your loss, some people have no understanding of how people can get so attached to animals :(
I grew up with a black cat called Tom and he got poorly when I was 15 and we had him put to sleep. You can understand it by this age but it still really sucks when they're there for a significant period of your life.

Hope you're doing ok x

Meds and treatment are different than immediate and guaranteed DEATH.
Did you ever read Of Mice And Men? I suggest doing it.

We had a dog, cavalier king charles spaniel. Dunno if the dog in your avatar is one, but the looks are very similar.

I'm not quite sure if my father took him to the vet to be put to sleep or not. But it makes me incredibly sad just thinking of that day when I came back from school and he wasn't there. And later that day I heard he is no more :( . But if my dad did take him, it was the right thing to do and definitely not easy. He barely had the strength to go for a walk outside anymore.

I hope it doesn't make me sound like a horrible person when I say that was a sadder day than when my grandmother died.

Well quickly.

A man named George with his mentally disabled friend Lennie who can't control his own strength are drifters looking for jobs in the 1930s. Anyway they get a job on a ranch. The owners son is a bit of an asshole.
Lennie accidentally kills the owner's son's wife and the owner's son goes after him promising to kill him as slow as possible. George finds Lennie first and kills him with a shot to the back of the neck, painlessly.

Do you get the message?

We had to put our last cat down because she had a tumour and could no longer walk. I remember the date really well. It was 11th January 2002. Why do I remember the date so well? It was my actually my birthday.

My Staffy, Barney, died when I was young. He was hit by a car when my dad was walking him. I sort of blame myself for what happened, even though it wasn't my fault. Just to put it in short, I could have been with them when they were walking. Might not have happened.

He was in pain. I'm assuming it was the reason my dad had him put down before the family got there. I remember hugging Barney, ignoring all the people looking at me. It was the only time I've ever seen my dad cry, too.

We made jokes afterwards. Probally as a way to hide the pain.

I remember when my dog Alfie got in an accident last year. That was really scary. I thought the same thing might have happened but, he was fine. I suppose stuff like that just sticks with you.

Never had one put down, but my rabbit died of some bowel clogging.

He was quite a special case. Never humped anything for example, even though he wasn't neutered.
