I think this is a great idea. Even though we want Bioware to alter the ending to be more worthy of their great franchise, we still love them heaps and heaps. This is just one way of showing it.

Now those entitled ME fanboys are hiding behind tasty pastry in order to deflect criticism and take the moral high ground! Don't you know this violates art?
/sarcasm

Ok for real this is pretty funny. I loved this post: "But I think the cupcakes should be hamflavoured. So that when they bite into them they have "lots of speculation" of the origins of the cake too. "

Sounds like when fans of that tv show Jericho sent a whole bunch of peanuts to the studios to get them to make (or release, I forget which) the last few episodes of the series.

Personally I'm gonna laugh when the new ending is actually worse than the standard one...just a giant FUCK YOU from Bioware to their fans, as though they were saying "Here's your new fucking ending you pricks, hope you choke on it."

:p
I think it got cancelled after the first season and the peanut campaign was to make the studio support a second season :p
Hey! Someone who knew what I was talking about! Heh heh, neat. But yeah, I remember them putting out like, 6 or 7 more episodes after it was officially canceled, thought that's what the peanut thing was about.

Gotta say that show was pretty neat. It managed to hold my attention at least. :3
It happens, every once in a blue moon!

Yeah, it's unfortunate that the second season was so rushed. It's still one of my favourites though.

I love how people complain about gamers wanting a new ending, at least they aren't campaigning BioWare to make a whole 'nother sequel ;)
Personally I can see both sides of it. On the one hand there's Bioware's position that "Hey, we made this game, that's how it ends. That's all there is to it." And they are perfectly within their rights to say that and we really are sounding pretty spoilt to ask them to make a new ending for us. On the other hand, evidence has shown that what was SUPPOSED to be the ending was completely butchered and chopped up by Casey Hudson, so the real ending as the writers intended it could have been much more fulfilling. That, and we as fans want to see closure to all the things we did throughout the series...what happens with the geth/quarians, the rachni, the krogan, etc. Not just a "Push this button to save the galaxy."

Are we within our rights as fans to demand a new ending? No, I gotta say we're not. Are we, as fans, deserving of a better ending than what we got? I would say we are. To reward years of fan loyalty with what essentially amounted to a Sopranos ending does feel a little betraying. I for one think that Bioware's better than that, especially when you consider that the rest of the game is absolutely brilliant.

Knowing Bioware fans, they are probably laced with cyanide, or something along those lines.

You would think Bioware killed their mother, and their dog with the way they go on about this whole ME3 ending fiasco.
That is morbidly hilarious. Though I would be terrified if it were true.
If I was in Bioware, I would bag all the cupcakes as a potential biohazard, and not fit for consumption, just to be on the safe side.

Definitely. I think BioWare is well within their rights to deny anythin' and everythin'. The game is playable and doesn't kidnap your children (yet.)

I think that BioWare should put out a new ending, simply because it would help their faltering public image. It's been really sad to see something with as much potential as BioWare become such a shadow of itself.

I have a feeling when it does come out, it'll be half baked and leave even more of a bad-taste in peoples' mouths. Is the PC version of ME3 moddable? Maybe someone should select a great ME fan-fic, canonize it and just put it in text form instead of the ending :p

Pffft, I've got a better ending right here:

<spoiler=Short/better ending to ME 3>Shepard gets blasted by the laser, it appears that all of Hammer has been decimated. Shepard stands up and hobbles into the beam, getting sent to the Citadel. The scene with the Illusive Man and Anderson plays out as it did in the game and Shepard opens the Citadel arms then sits down to have a father-son chat with Anderson.

Seeing the doors open and scanning for Shepard's biometrics, Hacket realizes that Shepard is alive and on the Citadel and contacts him, saying that the Crucible is in place but nothing is happening. Shepard actually MAKES it to the control panel and pushes a button that completes the link and activates the crucible. A powerful signal from the Crucible is sent out through the mass relays due to its integration with the citadel, this signal broadcasts on the same frequency that the Reapers used to use to controll the citadel (or the one they use for indoctrination) and is a corrupting code that, for lack of a better term, wipes all Reaper hard drives. The reapers, now "mindless" shells and nothing but giagantic space ships cease all activity and become inert. The galaxy is saved, Shepard doesn't make it. When the Citadel is reclaimed, Shepard's body is found and given a hero's burial with eulogies from all the major squadmates throughout the entire series. Insert Dragon Age: Orgins-style ending with the text boxes popping up saying "This is what happened to the dwarves. This is what happened to the Dalish elves. This is what happened to the mages, etc" (only insert Mass Effect races, obviously :p). Roll credits. Keep the Star Gazer scene.

Hopefully they don't use Pinkie Pie's cupcakes...
My thoughts were a combination of these: It's a warning, a threat - their number is going to come up, and just like in the endings, none of their choices will matter. Pinkie Pie cannot be stopped.

I rather like that, just render a few scenes, bring back some voices and bam! Brand spankin' new endin'!

Mass Effect fans are sending 400 x 3 different coloured coloured cupcakes with the letters A B and C on them to Bioware HQ.

It won't do anything but I found it fucking hilarious.
I love it, it sounds awesome and wont leave a bad aftertaste

:p It certainly helps that I, myself, am a writer. But really I think that with the ending I proposed everyone would have been MORE than satisfied. The funeral in particular with every surviving squadmate from the whole series having a little something to say (and important side characters like Hacket could be in there too) would be ridiculously powerful and the ultimate tear-jerker moment in any videogame ever.

Oh yes, with an ending like that, ME3 would satisfied 99% of their fan-base. It always would have won every video-game award known to man (and some known to dolphins)

I would have definitely liked the funeral part, feeling like you had made an impact.
I think the ending that's got me the most is one of Heavy Rain's endings, where you fail to save Ethan's son and he commits suicide in prison. God, that made me feel awful!

They're cupcakes. Not weapons of mass destruction.

Although... weaponizing cupcakes would be an interesting idea.

... and that ending is pretty much exactly what I wanted.
What I thought we were going to get.

Then... goddamn bastard star child.

What's really sad is that some slap-dick (myself) came up with an infinitely better (at least I think it is :p) ending for the game right from the top of his head as he was typing a response to an internet forum. I really should be getting paid for stuff like this. :3

Captcha; Seriously, what the hell is with these captcha ads disguessed as quizes? I don't know which frickin' car inspired a Cirque du Soliel act!

These assholes are dragging cupcakes through the mud. What will the mainstream think of cupcakes now? They already don't get as much respect as regular cakes.

Also ART.

That is all.
