Right now, I am on a retro gaming binge (EDIT: Retro mostly just meaning older games, not the NES or Genesis games that go under the name "retro". The word's actual definition is simply something of the past.) . Basically, I'm picking up old games for the GameCube and PS2 (About 5 to 10-year-old games) that I heard were good at lower prices so I can see if they really were. I'm fairly young, just a little under 15, so most of these titles I have missed.
Anyone have any good recommendations?
I've already picked up:

Gitaroo Man
Parrappa 2
Harvest Moon: Wonderful Life
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
(Ordered) Persona 3
Kirby Air Ride
Edit: Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door

Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
If you're going with Nuts and Bolts you'd better go with the originals as well, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.

I recommend Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Can't go wrong with those.

Have you played Eternal Darkness? I mean, it is rated M (or 15+, I don't actually know where you are)and is a Lovecraftian horror game, but it's really good.
And if you haven't played it (and by no means should you not have), Metroid Prime is amazing.
Also Shadow of the Colossus, if you haven't played that game either. Absolutely epic.

I also say Shadow of the Colossus, plus it's spiritual predecessor Ico.

Also, Final Fantasy IX.

well, if your a shooter person, metal arms, glitch in the system, a game that, in my honest opinion, was 10x better than anything Halo could hope to be, but other than that, paper Mario: the thousand year door was fun(never got to finish it becuase of the one "post chapter break" with princess peach was impossible for me to accomplish for some horrible reason, and for the PS2, rockstar's bully, that game was insanely funny and had some fun game-play to boot
But hey, this is all my opinion, so remember not to take it too seriously....

The original Ratchet and Clank is one of my favorite games of all time.
The original Jak and Daxter is also amazing.
I-Ninja was a game I bought because the cover was cool and it ended up being one of my favorite PS2 games.

Those are not retro games.
But you can't go wrong with the old Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank games

Yeah, Kakulukia, shake your cane at the lil' youngin'!

I do agree, though, that "Retro" is more reserved for 32-bit and under. Not to say that you don't have good taste in games, OP; the oppisite is quite apparent by your list of current games. How DID you manage to get a hand on Gitaroo Man, anyway? Is it the original print or the reprint?

If you really wanna go retro, I'd strongly suggest NetHack. [http://www.nethack.org/] Its an incredible game, but very very different from the type of games that have been on the market for the past 15-20 years. But in a good way.
I mean, TV Tropes actually points to this game as the origin of the trope, "The Dev team thinks of everything." Its free, and it would run on your grandparents' computer. There's no reason to not give this a try.

Just... don't get stuck in a room filled with friendly succubi and incubi while wearing a cursed ring of polymorph without polymorph control.
People who are familiar with the game will know what I mean when I say, "[small]Awkwarddddd[/small]."

Funniest joke all day!

Seriously... if you think those are retro games I really do feel for you.
If you want retro games buy a Mega drive/Genesis/Snes/Nes/Master system and then get back to me.

I'm sure even someone your age can appreciated and play games that came out way before they where born.

EDIT: You should of change this topic to "recommend games I missed" Instead of "retro gaming binge" if you wanted Gamecube and PS2 games because it can upset the older retro gaming elitists on this site and make them go stir crazy.

Sorry. I know that a retro game would be games like Sonic the Hedgehog 1,2, and 3, all the original Mario brothers games, Vectoram, Pro Wrestling, Sonic CD, Ghosts and Goblins, hell, even the first two banjo Kazooie games. But most of that stuff is both well publicized and available. How could anyone who's been on the internet not hear about these games? They're classics. I'm just looking for games I've missed. I guess the title would be a little misleading, and all those retro-gaming elitists would be quick to judge instead actually helping me out. I'm no Call of Duty or Halo fan, I'm a Nintendo guy. I know what is and isn't. I'm sure people will be quick to judge my age if they over look the somewhat misleading title.
My bad.

Yeah topic was misleading, but it's not that much of a problem, it's okay.

I can recommend some Gamecube games for you though (these titles are well worth looking into).

Eternal Darkness
Super mario Sunshine
Luigi's Mansion
Starfox Assault
Paper Mario: the thousand year door
Legend of Zelda: Wind waker
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Baten Kaitos: eternal wings and the lost ocean (my personal favourite GC game)
Fire emblem: path of radiance
F-zero GX
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: echoes
Resident Evil Zero
Resident evil REmake
Resident evil 4

Their you go, compensation for me being a bit of a Idiot towards you. :)

What's this?

Another person around my age looking to break away from the perpetuated stereotype that all gamers under the age of 18 do nothing but play Halo and Call of Duty and is instead playing overlooked or classic games from bygone eras?

And here I thought I was the only one. I also love you for Gitaroo Man getting a mention in.

I reccommend Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil. Fun little platforming game that.
Also, the Ape Escape series! Unique and fun titles.

I resent the implication that being young means that we cannot appreciate the brilliance of older games, that is just simply not true.
