Arcade, NES (Famicom), Master System... Keeping it in the 1980s

Favourite games?

Mine:
Nobunaga's Ambition - pretty much the prototype for all Total War Games
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobunaga%27s_Ambition

Kung Fu/Spartan X - the blueprint for scrolling beat 'em ups

Final Fantasy - love it, no matter how gay it has become

Metal Gear - the Famicom version was awesome.

What game makes me nostalgic? Well, the Bitcoin Billionaire reminds me of those games that I played when I was a tiny little girl. But that game doesn't make sense to me, as I definitely don't enjoy tapping my phone all the time to make virtual money.

I'm currently playing Fantasy of Elements. It is an adventure game which has just made its debut in Google Play. The main characters are quite adorable and I found it so far so good. Here's a brief intro: http://www.pocketriver.com/fantasy-of-elements/index.html

Haha, Bitcoin. I went for an interview with Mt. Gox for a managerial position in their marketing and media department. Got to the final stages, everything was looking positive and then...they just stopped responding. I was peeved, and then, one month later they admitted to losing some 850,000 bitcoins down the back of the sofa. Oh, how I laughed. Then felt bad. Then laughed some more.

Hmmm. Are you perhaps marketing Fantasy of Elements? I bet all the bitcoins you are.

NES:
-Megaman 4. The prettiest Megaman, even if it is kind of easy.
-TMNT 3. A great looking game, just like 2 but bespoke to the NES instead of rounded down from arcades. Rockin' soundtrack and fun combat.
-Shatterhand. The game NES Batman wishes it was.
-Skykid. Odd, WW1 themed mission-based scrolling shooter. Ass-ugly, but fun.
-Blades of Steel. Possibly the best NES sports game for two players, BoS gives you a pretty robust hockey experience, including fights and playable minigames on the jumbotron between periods.
-Life Force. A port of one of the Gradius side-story games (Salamander). Life Force is a MUCH better arcade port than NES Gradius, and features many memorable tracks and boss fights, as well as arcade-perfect brutal difficulty.

Master System:
-All the MS/GG (they use the same roms more or less) Ninja Gaiden games are awesome, I'd venture that the first one is at least as good as any of the NES titles.
-I haven't played many MS/GG titles.

PC Engine:
-Any arcade flyer port- Afterburner and Space Harrier are indistinguishable from the arcades.
-The Crush series, basically video pinball with horror themes and rather graphic violence.
-Gekibo: Gekisha Boy, in all its racist glory.

ZX Spectrum: Head Over Heels (still my favourite game ever), Chuckie Egg, Starquake, Football Manager, Starion

Arcade: Space Harrier, After Burner, Out Run, Hang-On (that's at least four reasons why I love Bayonetta right there), Bubble Bobble, Chase HQ, Wonder Boy In Monster Land

Master System: Sonic, Dyanmite Dux

NES: Super Mario Bros 3 (best of all of them by a very long way)

Good old Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon and Croc. Back when they were made by their original devs, and in Croc's case, back when Argonaut software was actually a thing. I only played the first Croc, though.
My early days of gaming was almost entirely 3D platforming or platforming of some sort, my first game ever played was likely SuperMarioLand, Metroid 2 or Pokemon Red. First controller I ever held was a Sega Mega Drive controller. I use the term "held" because that's literally all I would do, hold the controller and watch my brother play as usual, while Tails would check his watch...don't know what young me was thinking.

There was a period in my life where I played a lot of Goldeneye, also, but my memories of Goldeneye are fuzzy, as the cartridge ended up breaking, and I was quite young. Still one of our favourite N64 games, of what few we had. I don't think we had anything other than Pokemon Stadium and Some WWF game. They were both fun, too, though.
