Right escapists, I am asking for your help in suggesting some retro classics to play on my newly aquired N64 (for only £10!).

I've already ordered Zelda and Goldeneye from the web but are at odds as to what to purchase after, as I was only 10 when I used to play on this system. Reviews on the web have indicated many titles that I should pick up, however i'm open to YOUR suggestions and eager to hear what you guys think!

So come on you've never let me down before :) what other purchases should I make for my summer N64 gaming?!?!

Also tell me about your own retro gaming experiences/plans!

Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie. Rayman 2. Super Mario 64. Majora's Mask. Paper Mario. Perfect Dark. That should keep you occupied for a while.

Things I forgot- Star Fox 64, Donkey Kong 64, Super Smash Brothers, Yoshi's Story, Diddy Kong Racing.

All depends on what kind of game you're looking for...

Never heard of it? It's an RPG spinoff series. I agree with everything Phlakes said and would like to add Star Fox and Donkey Kong 64.

Oh, and of course Super Mario 64--a choice so obvious that we're forgetting to recomend it :D
Its age hurts it a bit (the camera can be difficult at times and an occasional Star can only be found through trial and error or a walk through), but the game more than makes up for these faults.

As in Paper Mario [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paper_Mario], one of the best RPGs I've played. And if you have a Wii or Gamecube, pick up the sequel too. It's even better.

well body harvest is a game about going back in time to fight alien invaders of earth during various times in history, you start out on foot but you can take over various vehicles and such, from cars to plains to even tanks to fight the giant mantis looking invaders, I really enjoyed it

mischief makers is a side scrolling game done by treasure about a girl robot named maria

here is a german promo vid

First: Super Mario 64. Get it, now.

Space Station Silicon Valley was made by DMA--who later made GTAIII--and is an incredibly good platformer.

Conker's Bad Fur Day is great--v. funny, in a Pythonesque way. Zelda: Majora's Mask has some wonderful art design, too.

If you've never played Duke Nukem 3D, I would recommend Duke Nukem 64 for the split-screen and co-op. Star Fox 64 resides fondly in memories, as well.

Oh, and Paper Mario is the best RPG on the console.

And that one! :D

Anyways, people seem to have the essential essentials covered.

Just, make sure you play Majora's Mask, and do all the side quests. Ah... Anju and Kafei... so freakin' romantic for a Zelda game.

Perfect Dark is more evolved than Goldeneye and has a much better framerate. The only thing I hate is the fuzzy screen when another player slaps you or hits you with the tranq darts.

Turok 2 is a blast to play as well.

Shadows of the Empire hasn't aged too well, but it does have some levels that are a blast to play. Aside from the 16-bit Super Empire Strikes Back, Shadows was the first Star Wars game to attempt a "realistic" recreation the snow speeder run from Empire.

I'm sure it's already been said plenty of times but 3D gaming really began with Mario 64 and, despite graphics that haven't aged well, it's still a blast to play.

Body Harvest is a bit too simplistic but it's fun to play. You drive over a 100 vehicles in different time periods as you fight / run the hell away from alien invaders.

Mario Kart 64 was the first Kart game that I truly enjoyed. It dominated multiplayer for my friends and I before Goldeneye came out.

Killer Instinct on 64 (or the Super Nintendo version, for that matter) is not nearly as good as the arcade versions (the original is my personal favorite fighting game of all time), but it's still solid and hella-fun.

Mischief Makers suffers from uneven difficulty, but it's goofy, offbeat and tons of fun.
