Most shooters these days are simply not long enough for me to shell out 60 bucks, and this, apparently, is no exception. However, the game still looks like fun and will probably be my next rental.
And yeah, this one flew completely under my radar as well, never even heard of it!

In Resisitance: fall of man, Resisitance 2, and Resisitance: Retribution you can slow down time while using the sniper rifle, so thats not new, also in Crash nitro Cark there is a missile in mutiplayer that lets you control a missile yourself, so thats not new either, also the "rolly polly" gun is kinda like the agent of doom from ratchet and Clank: Up your arsenal, where you let them loose and they charge at the enemy and self destruct, so that not new either, also slowing down time in a certain bubble area is in rathcte and Clank: Crack in Time, so not new either.

Is this the next step in in-game time control? I mean, it's been done before in Prince Of Persia and Blinx The Cat but this seems to be a little more innovative and a bit more of a step forward.

I'll check out a play through of the first level on Youtube to see plays and make up my mind from there.

I watched a youtube walk-through, and was not amused. Seemed shallow and unsatisfying. Not enough things to do with the TMD, starter guns are boring, story is meh. They could have done a lot more. Overall seems rushed.
Oh noes! ur basing ur opinion on a youtube vid, just play it!!!
Last time I followed such advice, was with C&C4. No way in hell am I making that mistake again.

So the general consensus from the reviews I've seen is thus, good but not great, It looks interesting so I may buy the game.

Fun Fact: if you correctly pronounce the backwards N, R and that thing that's not quite an A it's Siiguldyaity.

Neat footprint finder.

Got it, loved it. Feel like the Dead lock (The time stopping orb) is pretty over powered though. Mostly because you can stop bigger monsters with it, taking out all the worry of them being deadlier than the normal guys.

It think it was nice, but not really good, and certainly not great. I disliked the fact that you could only age certain objects, and it was too much of rail-shooter for me. But the levels had atmosphere and I liked most of the monsters - could we port them to STALKER, please?

and can't your magic time glove rewind time on people and turn them into embryo?
I'm guessing saw the age-rating problem with that (instant AO probably), and decided against that.
You can either age them to dust or turn them into "reverts" using the renew power, they are blind creatures that have an unpleasant tendency to pour corrosive vomit all over everything in earshot. It's really useful with bunched up enemies, just turn one into a revert and watch him slaughter all his former buddies, then shoot him.

Funny. The first similarity I noticed was the time-slowing sniper rifle from Resistance: Fall of Man. Anyone else notice that one? Looking for similarities to other games would make an interesting drinking game. Too bad I don't like drinking.

What was "Not so good." about it? I didn't hear one critiscism in that whole review. :/

I'm set on buying this, I've been waiting for it's release for a while.
"Not as good" as HL2/Bioshock =/= "Not so good."
My mistake.:p

It's a good game, in fact it's one of the only games that has a strong single player story line lately. Tell me I'm wrong please, maybe you could give me some examples of games that don't suck lately? I don't know, but IMO this game was fantastic, suspenseful, has some replay value (If you want to beat the whole game again to get different endings rather than just start right before the game ends). There are also a lot of little fun easter eggs and the like.
storyline? it had way to many plotholes to be "good". i would tell you all of them but it is a spoiler. lets say if you stop yourself from doing something in the past, you wont exist and it happens ALL over again in a continuous loop. the lack of more intelligent options at the end and lack of well thought out actions just gives a bigger middle finger to the player. want some example of non sucky games?

killing floor
Dwarf Fortress
Tropico 3
Mount & Blade: Warband
Alien Swarm
R.U.S.E (coming soon)
Sins of a solar empire
Serious sam HD

That's just the list of games i played recently, notice how its all PC (except tropico 3 since its multiplatform).
Where were the plot holes?

okay SPOILERS AHEAD:

if you kill yourself in the past, you create a paradox that continues to go in a circle. you are not saving the world, you just made an unbreakable loop. however if you tried an actual intelligent option and shot wannabe-hitler instead of yourself then everything would have returned to normal and no "russia rules" crap you get no matter who you choose. if you blew up a processing facility in the past then why is it still complete when you get there? it should be in pieces because you blew it up. if russia used E-99 to bomb america then america would have nuked the shit out of russia before they know what the fuck hit them. e99 can not stop a barrage of nuclear warheads from being launched.
There were no actual fact to literally anything you just said. Literally.

1.-It's a video game. Just because we have RADAR and advanced nuclear warning systems doesn't mean the game has to acknowledge that fact.

2.-A paradox is a true statement or group of statements that leads to a contradiction or a situation which defies intuition. Killing yourself doesn't make paradoxes. Also, in the game, you come back to life. Probably due to Barisov finding some other way to keep you alive. Questioning the games endings is mostly just hypothetical nonsense, but some people like to call it "fan-fiction"

3.-When, in the game, did Russia actually drop the E-99 bomb on America?

4.- You destroy the processing facility, but Dimechev says, "All that effort to destroy the singularity and all I had to do was rebuild it", at the end of the game.

1. it does if it doesn't want to be laughable like homeland. you cant drop an entire plothole like that "just because" we don't want to acknowledge it.

2. probably? a story isn't built on probably.

3. during the video in the scientist's tower. it was is the middle of the level how could you MISS that?

4. but you blew it up in 1955 and when you came out it was gone. if it was rebuilt it would be the same but its NOT.
Once again noting you said is true nor worth acknowledging. You probably don't understand that you have to pay attention to dialogue and game mechanics if you want to know the whole story. Like I said, questioning the games story and trying to add in real-world devices and probabilities is called fan-fiction. Thank you, and good day.
