the story was wonderful
especially the ending (the real one)
lol...haters gonna hate
awesome

the game could have been longer...but in retrospect, that might've been cuz I played on Normal for my first go
bump it up a notch or two, throw in some co-op and who knows
it felt good tho, real good. wasn't the longest game ever, but boy did it hit hard.

tip: take your time and play through the game on a harder difficulty. it'll help you appreciate the story and its end (or beginning?) all that much more

Really nice review, picked up the game because of it and I have to say it trully is the best out of the Halo franchise, which admittedly after Combat Evolved was made of sticks, bricks and shit. But it was huge fun so make of that what you will.

That was a very neatly written and formatted review. Presentation was slightly clunky when there was too much clunked at segments, but it was enjoyable to read nonetheless.

This would be well worth an 'official' review.
That depends on what constitutes 'official'?

Because it didn't really happen. But aperantly the website guru's thought we were serious and put us on probation
The only reason I was confused was because you put a an actual spoiler for comment #12.

Because it's a super awesome secrect ending that can only be unlocked by running backwards in every mission and by putting a bullet through the skull of every stuffed teddybear you find (32 in total).
You forgot that I must beat every Elite to death with hidden dog tags, and the difficulty must be the secret "LUV" difficulty.

Nice review. All i do is sing in the shower. But i still don't understand how Halo Combat evolved was revolutionary. Fun sure but not revolutionary. Just a FPS. Sorry. I just hate when people use the word revolutionary to describe games.
Like before, a good read wouldn't hurt. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/8066-Experienced-Points-Before-There-Was-Halo]

There is a reason a lot of games are now called "Halo clones".

I have to say. As a Anti-Halo person, your review was amazing! I am glad to see a review that isn't 100% gushing about "Halo is teh c00li3st! G3T 1T N0w!"

Part of the definition for revolutionary is "outside or beyond established procedure, principles." I would think using new techniques to truly tailor a shooter at the lowest level to the console it is on, and pretty much giving birth to the modern console shooter would count as fulfilling that definition. It even fits the "sudden, complete, or marked change" part of the definition as well for the same reasons.

But it wasn't really Out of the Box or Change it was just improvements on an already working system. Also Awesome avatar.
I have grown attached to the little Gentleman Mudcrab.

As for the game. Well, it did take console shooters in an entierly new direction. You can't judge the game by todays standards you have to think back to what titles where available on the consoles when it was released. It was radically different.

I was in the military at the time and the release of the game was very appreciated amongst my friends. Before that FPS where pretty much a PC only thing. A real story, and narrative was rare as well.

Trying to say something cannot be revolutionary because it wasn't the "first" is ridiculous. When you start simplifying things to that level, well then we ran out of firsts a long time ago.

It would be like saying the first person into space wasn't anything special because we had already sent chunks of metal into space before that.

While manaman pretty much summed up the points I wanted to make, I'll add to it with a quote my acting teacher told us on the first day of class when referring to writing scenes and dialogue:

"They did it first? You do it better."

This is a well-written, well-formatted review of a game that is slowly getting my interest. I haven't really been anywhere near the Halo train since the original, but I might give Reach a try.

Coming from you that's bit of a head perker. In fact it kind of made my day.

Great review, and fully agreed. Multiplayer has taken me for a ride for the last two days, and I'm not even 10% into the fun.

As well, the story, game play, and music are just so fucking good. Not perfect, but the best of the Halo series so far. The music in particular just knows how to hit that heart-string perfectly.

Lucky you. I only had a few hours.

Would be playing longer, but sadly Amazon has yet to deliver my copy.
