Revive Descent: Freespace series

seriously am I the only one who thinks this awesome space-sim should be revived? Look at Freespace 2! *drool*. The gaming industry should at least try going back to space-sims such as this.

Yeah dude definitely. I got freespace with my first computer back in 1998 or 1999 or w/e. So SO good omfg definitely need a freespace 3.

Yeah, Freespace would be good... but you know what would be great? Regular old Descent.

Doubt it. Interplay still owns the rights, and nobody has expressed interest in it, except for Derek Smart (sigh).

pff too bad. Interplay had good IP in that series. I missed the feeling of being an insignificant mosquitoe annoying the heck of a capital ship.

I agree. The games were great, and still hold up pretty well. I'd love for new games in the series'...

Yeah, the fact that Freespace 1+expansion [http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/freespace_expansion], Freespace 2 [http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/freespace_2], Descent 1+2 [http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/descent_1_descent_2], and Descent 3+expansion [http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/descent_3_expansion] are all on GoG.com for $6 USD, but a new game from both series would be fantastic.

Although I'd much rather have a brand new IP that used elements from both franchises.

Well, Volition went on record saying that they'd kill to work on Freespace 3 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107649-Volition-Wed-Commit-Murder-for-Freespace-3], so we know they're up for it.
