A knight and a dragon live on an island.
The island has seven wells, numbered 1 to 7 - the water from each well is poisoned.
The poison from one well can be neutralised by drinking from a higher numbered well.
Well number 7 is atop an unclimbable mountain, so only the dragon can reach it.
One day, the knight and dragon have a duel. They both bring a glass of water for the other to drink, and after that they are free to do as they please until one of them dies.
Only the knight survives.
What happened?
He gave the dragon water from well number 5&6?
Then drank some of it himself?
Nope.
OOOOO this one is good
The knight didn't drink the water, then stabbed the dragon?

OMG, i think i got it. The knight drinks from one of the wells(1-6) before the duel knowing that the dragon will give him water from Well 7 because there is no well 8 to neutralize posion from well 7. Dragon thinks he won but infact he cured the knight.

that has to be right

EDIT: ninja'd by saksak, DAMN you! good riddle though

The knight drinks water from well #1, and gives nonpoisonous water to the dragon?[/quote]
You got it. The dragon then drinks from well 7 thinking he's been poisoned, and dies. The knight is cured by the dragon.

Right...
There are three unmarked lightbulbs in a room.
Outside the room there are three switches numbered 1, 2 and 3.
It's impossible to see the light from the bulbs without going into the room.
How could you tell which switch corresponds to which lightbulb without going into the room more than once?
(No mirrors either)

Easy. Flip the switch number 1. Wait for ten minutes. Flip it back and then flip switch 2. Enter the room. If a light is on, switch 2 controls it. If it is off, touch that lamp. If it is hot, then switch 1 controls it. If it is cool to the touch, switch 3 controls it.

I know this one, but I can't recall the answer, it's sort of complicated, but really simple.
The only answer otherwise is to send someone else into the room and tell me.

I'm sorry if this one has already been posted.

A man lives on the top floor of a block of flats.
Everyday he goes halfway up the block of flats and walks the rest of the way up the stairs.
Why?

A Storm?
A storm is made of wind, creates wind and is served by wind. Wind is not the foe of a storm.

2. Many things can create one, it can be of any shape or size, it is created for various reasons, and it can shrink or grow with time.
A Shadow?
that works, but 'a hole' was what I was after.
Actually both a hole and a shadow can not be of any shape.

Except when it rains, don't forget that bit!
It's because he's vertically challenged, and can only reach the button for his floor with his umbrella.

It was in the woods that I got it,
so I sat down to seek it.
I couldn't find it
no matter how hard I looked.
So I took it home with me.

What is it?

Really? Name a shape that a hole can not be like.

Also, anything that has a shape is an object that can cast a shadow. So no matter the shape of the object, the shadow will be of similar shape.

Nothing?
That fits, it just renders the woods part irrelevant

Sorry, but 'nothing' is wrong. The solution is an actual physical object.

Another one: What runs but never walks, has a mouth but never talks?
A river.

Here's one I like...

Five hundred begins it, five hundred ends it,
Five in the middle is seen;
First of all figures, the first of all letters,
Take up their stations between.
Join all together, and then you will bring
Before you the name of an eminent king.
David. It's Roman Numerals.

D is the 'five hundred' at the start and end. In the middle is five (V). And the first of all letters is A, while the first of all figures is 1 (I). So together you get D-A-V-I-D, which is the name of King David :).

Put a hole in a bucket, it gets lighter.
Though I like to think helium, it doesn't have an odor, does it?

Hmm...
Dan & Suzy are found on the floor, dead.
There is shattered glass & some water on the floor, but their bodies are unharmed & they did not drown.
How did they die?
Dan and Suzy are fish.

You are flying a plane. The plane take a few stops. The stops are in New York to California. On that flight you take a 45 mins. rest stop. Then you travel to California. You stop in california for 120 mins. Then you Pick up the people who are going to Florida. You take a 80 min. rest stop. Finally you get to Florida. You stop in Miami for 50 mins. Then you take the people form Miami to Orlando. How old is the pilot?
