I expect that honor will go to whoever they were holding up...

Can't wait for this to start, I just wanted to give everybody a heads up that my posts might be later than most peoples on account of me living on the West Coast. It shouldn't be a problem, but I've had a few issues in the past with this and just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

You not forbidden from being insane, you'll just be more likely to receive GM-induced bad luck

While we're at it, I'm gonna ask for some more edits: No raditaion glow (you'd be dead by now) and no followers. To be factionless is to be faction-less, not to start your own.
Alternately, you could have your tiny band of followers, but you'd be hounded by the Reds an d everyone else would take potshots at you. Your choice...

Oh, I nearly forgot, get some proper grammar: I want to be able to read the stuff you give me.
My deepest apologies, I will make the changes immediately. my followers have been cut down to just one, my manservant Trevor.

Very interesting RP by the way.

[spoiler/]name: Angus O'Neill
faction: none
appearance: Tall and ghoulish. He has pale skin that is scarred and pealing, his eyes are grey with cataracts (though he can still see, bizzarely) very red mouth and yellow-grey teeth. His hair is grey in colour but maintains some of its original brown, he wears a black and white pinstripe suit, stained and tattered of course, and a formal black trilby with a red ribbon and a tattered white feather
personality: O'Neill is a friendly soul but has a burning hatred for the Green Gems and Blue Eyes (who he refers to as fanatics and yokels respectively) saying that "it was their kind who caused all this!" speaks in a loud voice and is followed everywhere by his manservant Trevor, a former Green Gem caught stealing and banished. Every day, at exactly 10 in the morning, he will walk into the radiation and preach about the day the world ended, before screaming his lungs out and striking the next person he sees. Angus is not entirely mentally stable, prone to moderate delusions every now-and-then, but he tends to ignore these and continue with his day-to-day work. All-in-all, Angus O'Neill is a nice man with a warm heart and who remains incredibly bitter about the apocalypse.
equipment: a 44 magnum revolver, a laptop (long run out of power, but will plug it in to any socket he finds intact and press the button just to see if it works) a first aid kit, a fencing rapier sharpened regularly and a notepad and pencil, which he uses to jost down any thoughts that come to him.
vehicle: a carrefully maintained hydrogen powerd car with the chasis of a 1930s bentley, used simply for style, cover folded out from the seats and a machine gun turret that can be fitted through the sunroof (usually used by Trevor whilst O'Neill drives). It is painted black.
quote: "no. nonononono! never kill someone straight out! they need a chance! a second chance! if people gave others one of those, none of this would have happened..."
"I've gone nuts? I was never sane"
[/spoiler]
Angus holds the strong belief that the best way to survive is to avoid any threats, he is a hermit and thus factionless. He lives in the lobby of a once high-class apartment building, but the events of the story will bring him into the frey, likely forcing him to forsake his hermit life and become more of a wanderer in the style of Rincewind the Wizard or our very own Bartleby Marrow.

You're not alone with having timezone issues when RPing. I live in Sweden, and ThreeWords would be residing in the UK. We will probably be sleeping while the most hectic posting take place.

Easy solution: don't sleep! :)

Hmm, I'm interested in how Jenny will interact with Bartalby and Angus, considering how she likes the idea of a unified City, but she isn't as idealistic, as in she doesn't necessarily believe that something like a Democracy is feasible, she just wants some government, even a dictatorship, to bring order to the anarchy. That being said, with the right sequence of events she might wind up being persuaded to join either of them.

I must admit, I'm excited to see how Bartelby and Jenny interact as well. Its half the reason I'm anxious to get into an interrogation scene. It would be a good airing of political ideologies and it would just be dramatic as hell if it resulted in the two of them working together.

Name: Bartelby Narrow

Faction: Factionless

Appearance: A man of average height (5'10 to put a number) and thin build. He does not appear physically strong because, honestly, he's fairly weak. bartelby's physique would perhaps be better suited to diving through narrow windows or hiding under desks than, for example, lifting furniture. That being said, his shoulder length black hair is ussually clean, he makes a valiant effort to keep a smooth face in a world where razors are ussually reserved for other purposes and his clothes are significantly more sophisticated than the average joe's functional attire. With his dark green eyes and smooth features he might even be attractive if it weren't for the nearly permanent expressions of terror, shock and unease which are his standard states of being.

Personality: Bartelby is a well trained and very experienced coward. He's a man of the people in that the more people who are following him the easier it is to hide behind them. He believes in and respects the ideas of honor and chivalry but fully recognizes that they're for people who are morally superior. A dirty trick or two isn't below him; if it got him out of danger canabalism wouldn't be below him. He's not afriad to grovel. Though he will certainly be afraid while groveling, and after groveling, and upon meeting anyone who might potentialy be placated by a good bout of groveling. Its not that he's spineless, at his core hes a rebel humanist with deep concerns for the current condition of humanity and the plight of the working man, its just that when everyone is trying to kill you all the time, it makes a person nervous.

Bartelby maintains lofty ambitions of overthrowing the Blue Eyes and establishing a truely representative government to defend the average man and ensure the rule of law. Unfortunately his allies are few and far between. He will obstruct Blue Eye business every opportunity he has that won't immediately result in his, squishy, death. He won't align himself with the Red Eagles because in his experience they don't care anymore for the life liberty or prosperity of the underprivledged than the Blue Eyes living in their ivory towers. And he won't align himself with the Green Jewels because they're a fanatical cult with no interest in establishing a fair and unbiased government. This means the only people Bartelby can rely on as allies are the bullied and bruised working men of the city. Understandably, these people are low on guns and ussually lose their enthusiasm for civic revolution after their first bullet wound. Consequently, Bartelby spends a lot of his time running. He's gotten fairly good at it.

Equipment: Bartelby doesn't carry guns, largely because they would just be extra weight to carry during his mad dashes away from danger. Bartelby prefers equipment he can toss behind him to disuade pursuers and things he can make traps out of. Bartelby will avoid a direct fight if it is, in any even vaugely imaginable way, possible. With this is mind ...

Bartelby carries with him: four grenades, a length of thin rope, a knife to cut the rope with, duct tape, and a lighter.

Vehicle: Bartelby has a three seater motorcycle. It is abnormally elongated in order to fit three people comfortably in a line. It is very good technology and runs unexpectedly quickly. It was probably Blue Eye once. Bartelby doesn't know for sure, he just stumbled on it one day during an escape. Since then it's become his only constant companion and definitely his most prized possession.

Quote: You know... I never thought about. I mean, there have definitely been times when I ran toward people; but that was because they were away from other people. I never thought of them as allies so much as ... People who weren't shooting at me yet?

All players are welcome to have history with Shannow, regardless of faction
Does that mean you're also running PM backstory sessions? I must admit, I kinda want to get into a chase scene with Shannow. Set him up in Bartelby's mind as some kind of inhuman spectre, the most difficult person Bartelby has ever escaped from. And of course, I'd love for Bartelby to be "the one that got away", with or without scars. Does that work with your character? Obviously, if you have another idea just let me know.

And, like avouleance2nd and 3W, if anyone in the thread wants history with Bartelby just let me know.
Angus O'Neill would love to have provided shelter for our loveable coward at some point, that is, if I get accepted

At the moment, I'm RPing two backstories by PM, and I'm not sure if starting before that is a wise idea...

I'm sure we could start, it's not like we can't complete the backstories as we go and I'm sure that we can finish them before they become to important. And for the most part it's the general idea of the back story which is the most important in the beginning.

... You know ... Now that you mention it ... I feel kind of awesome.

It's like Rincewind meets French Revolutionary. I like this character even more now.

As for the backstory, I'd be willing to run something with you. But if were not going to start until all the backstories are finished, I'd feel guilty about starting another one (I already have two going). Everyone seems anxious to start.

That being said, we've got to meet in good time in the actual RP. Our characters are going to mesh in fascinating ways.

If it would be distracting in thread, we could make a user group I suppose.
