Risk is a game of military strategy, the object of the game is to control every territory on the map, thus achieving global domination.
We shall be playing this wonderful game, with me acting as a kind of referee/diceroller.
There are 6 armies to command: red, blue, grey, purple, green and yellow.
We shall be using the 2004 global domination (that is, vanilla Risk) rules located here, [http://www.hasbro.com/common/instruct/Risk_2003.pdf] with a few modifications, mentioned later. For now, the map we will use is the one above, and I may use the risk board I have in real life to show movements in more detail.
If you would like to play, put what colour army you would like to be and invent a name up for a fictional nation. If you want, you can give extra character to your nation with stuff like a national flag, leader name and title, etc; these are optional, but in my experience it makes the game a bit more fun. You can also elect a "second" to provide orders, should you be unable to.
Anyway, here are the modifications I propose, if you have better ideas, feel free to suggest them to me.
Orders and Turn Structure
Orders shall be given in simultaneously. This is to stop the game being held up by one player, like if the green player comes down with terminal Slack Tongue on their turn. turns are not taken simultaneously, instead an "initiative" roll is made after orders are given, and turns are taken from highest roll to lowest roll.
Orders are sent by private message, and they should be clearly written, for example, "send six armies from Iceland to Great Britain", you can use the numbers on the territories as contractions, like "send six armies from Europe-2 to Europe-1", if you are making an attack you may also include whether you wish to retreat when your (or your enemy's) armies are reduced to a certain number, otherwise your armies will fight until only one side remains. You should also include your reinforcement placements and whether you want to trade in cards for extra reinforcements. Finally, if you want to attack a single target from multiple directions, please state which order you want each set of armies to attack.
Initial Setup
territories shall be handed out randomly to make the setup quicker, initial reinforcement shall be carried out simultaneously.
Diplomacy and Cards
You are allowed to negotiate with other players if you wish, just don't let it get too out of hand. I shall tell you what cards you receive after a turn by PM, remember to keep track of them, the give you bonus reinforcements.
Finally, remember to be friendly and have fun.
