Playing Cod4 doesn't surprise me, I mean why can't he?

What surprises me is, he named his daughter Zelda, that has to be a joke.
Well, Zelda IS an actual name, as is Mario. Not Yoshi or Link, though.
Actually, I'm fairly certain that Yoshi is an actually name and not an uncommon one in Japan either.

Link is a real name. It's not very common, but it happens.

On the topic of celebrities who play games, Matthew Perry (Chandler from Friends) avidly plays Fallout 3, and is known to play Klonoa on Wii (which is totally not a venereal disease).
Ahhh...Klonoa. VERY underrated series. I recall the PS1 game.

An asshole plays Call of Duty? Stop the presses.

Zelda is a real name, but if he's naming it after the character, fair dos. I named one of my cats Zelda.

Damn, I was expecting a 7 or 8 year old girl and had you pegged as a creeper, but wow, she's gorgeous!

Zelda as a name does not neccesarily (some day if I work really hard I may be able to spell that word properly) mean he got it from the game series of the same name. The name Zelda has appeared in plenty of forms of literature (one example I can think of is in the Stephen King book Pet Sematary) and so odds are it's just a coincidence.

That said it is always cool when a celebrity or famous director admits a liking for gaming because it gives off an impression of how much video games have made it into the mainstream culture.

I knew but Mario was a real name, but didn't know Zelda was. But hey you learn something new everyday. Still I could picture what her school role call would be like.

Teacher: Bob?

Bob: Here.

Teacher: Simon?

Simon: Here.

Teacher: Ok um Zelda, is Zelda here?

Bob: No sir, Im afraid she was kidnapped again, should be back soon though.

Just a joke I felt like making, sorry if it was tasteless.
Yep, Zelda is a real name. Apparently German in origin, means "Woman Warrior", according to babynames.com

Indeed. I intend on getting the Wii version pretty soon.

Yeah, that was pretty funny. Many of his movies are crap, but I never accused Williams himself of being a bad actor.

I know someone who named his son Link, after the video game character.

I wonder if he'll be a mute when he grows up?

I'm pretty sure Yoshi's a legitimate Japanese name.

This is awesome news. I'll be keeping an eye out for him on the tubes from now on.
It is. Apparently as a baby, I was friends with a kid named Yoshi while my dad was stationed in Japan.

Yoshi is usually an abbreviation for something like Yoshimaru or Yoshima, or something like that
