I'm looking to create a new dungeons and dragons(4th edition character). My last character was a Wizard, and was way too overpowered. I'm looking to create a melee person this time around, but am not sure which class to pick. What Class do you guys think I should use.

What class should I pick?
What race is best for this class?
What feats are best for this class?
What stats (dexterity, strength etc.) are most important for this class?

Thanks in advanced!

I had a lot of fun with a goliath barbarian. Only got to use him for one session though, sadly. It's a barbarian, so STR, CON, and DEX are the order of the day, maybe with a little WIS mixed in.

Also the captcha of:

"for sure"

seems to agree with me.

Well, obvious question - what role do you want? Defender, striker, leader? This means a whole lot when designing the class.

I personally like the swordmage - nice defender class with high mobility. I tend to go for an eladrin for even more mobility. There was a hilarious encounter power that you can trigger as your mark attacks (or was it hits?) one of your allies - you immediately teleport the marked enemy and they make the attack on a target of your choosing. An evil baddie that summoned a bigger badder demon, got chopped to bits due to this.

But for a more of a striker role, I'd go for a barbarian. Probably half-orc and get some things to maximise the charging bonuses, then spend the combat running around.

But as I said, it really depends what you want to do with a class - be a damage sponge, be highly mobile, hurt enemies badly, control the battlefield, or what exactly?
