For £45 ($70). Seriously wtf Steam. Thats a joke, especially when Amazon has it up for £30 ($46.50).

What the hell is this, I know steam is usually a bit more for the convenience but thats a joke considering physical copies are guna be steam activated anyway.

What is the point of pre-ordering the game so long in advance? What is the benefit?
I do it if I know Im going to buy it anyway usually, it means I can budget it on my timetable.

Why didn't the Romans just take the eagles to Mordo- oh nevermind.
Anyway, I understand it's expensive, but games are expensive to make in the first place.
Lol. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THARE!

Game are expensive yes. I also believe that the Total War games are among the best currently being made, I literally have their entire back catalogue complete with DLC but £45 is too much for a game. I have NEVER paid £40 for a game, I feel £35 is the limit and tbh I rarely pay more than £30, its usually stuff like Starcraft II where the price is heavily regulated by the developer where I actually pay the higher £35 simply because I cant get it for less.

£45 is just a retarded number. Im not paying it and thats a damned shame. Honest, this is how piracy happens.

£45 is expensive on steam? In real life that's a normal price for a game, if you want it on console and it's a new release. Hell, I've seen pre-orders on normal editions for £59.99

Its not a console game, there are no licencing fees and in the world of PC games £30 is the going price, £35 is the top end of normal and £40 is expensive. I have never seen a game on steam for £45 outside of Modern Warfare which was also a steaming ripoff and a pile of turd.

It looks like $59 on Steam for me. Seems perfectly reasonable, given the scope of the game.

Oh man, you almost gave me a heart attack. For a second there I thought you meant it got released and I somehow missed that.

As for the price, well I am so deeply in love with the Total War series, they could probably demand my firstborn.

Edit: Just looked it up, it will be 54? in Germany. Between 50? and 60? is pretty much standart here.

It's 55 euros on GreenManGaming and it has a 25% off voucher right now, making it a bit over 40. Which is okay considering it's usually around 50 for pc games.

Still want a retail release. I hope there'll be a poster like fall of the samurai had, and an awesome box.

The benefit to preordering is that you unlock the Greek factions for free.

I can't believe they are putting the greek factions (Sparta, Athens, Epirus) in as Day 1 DLC/Preorder bonuses. It seems increadibly insulting to put some of the most iconic ancient factions from the mediterranean (not to mention ones that were free in the first game) and locking them behind a paywall. Sadly I can see them doign something similar to Parthia and the Selucids as well. I seem to recall the devs promising that they wouldn't cut content out for DLC this time around, It's nice to know how much their word is worth that they are willing to cut out some of the core factions to make a quick buck.

To add insult to injury, some of Macedon's units can't be used unless you buy the DLC.

I yearn for the days of Rome Total War/Medieval II Total War at this point. All this preorder and DLC nonsense giving access to units and factions is really irritating and blatent money grabbing, not to mention it is absolutely devestating to the amazing Total War modding community.

Oh, that time I buy a new PC is rapidly approaching. I think my brother would join in with me too. I doubt his has the juice to run a game like Rome 2 anymore.

Oh, whoops, need something relevant. I find it for the industry standard of 60 USD pretty much everywhere. Not surprising since I'm pretty sure they made a new engine for it(or at least modified the crap out of an existing engine) and have done a ton of work in differentiating the factions in how they play in the campaign, rather than just in the battle screen.

Check your math, it's 60 bucks over here.

OT: Okay, so amazon has the better price...go buy it there?

I feel like I'm missing the problem here.

Yep. Kind of miffed they're making the greek states dlc as well. That being said, I will most likely pre-order this. Because dammit I loved Rome Total War and I've been wanting another for a long-ass time.

No, his math is right. It costs an equivalent of $70 for him and everyone in the UK.

Because fuck the UK and Australia, which tends to be the official pricing model for video games.

Steam do not mandate fair pricing internationally. It is £45 on steam. If you google currency converter and put £45 and change it to USD youll get $69.43. All that fact that your getting it for $60 in the stats means is that CA or whoever has set the price is INTENTIONALLY trying to screw over the British market simply because they think the British can/will pay more.

They don't THINK it... my guess is that you WILL.

Basic economic equilibrium and all that jazz.

I don't really feel for you, either, seeing that Australia has had much bigger price gaps with less fuss.

They dont make a fuss because they have always had it. Its a little different if you go buy the paper one day and its $1, you go back the next day and its $10, especially if all the other papers are still $1. Youd be asking wtf too.
