Hmmm, well, since every movie adaption I can remember of a Stephen King novel turned out to be a steaming pile of turds, I can't see how this latest attempt will be any better.

Guess I'm cynical in this regard, but King's work on film is much like Lovecraft's work on film: Utter shite done by poor screenwriters, worse actors and fucked-up directors. Good luck to 'em, but I'll not hold out hope (or, to be fair, interest).

I like my fictional stories to have endings tho. This was a case of Mr King not having a clue how to finish his series, in my opinion.
How to finish his books, you mean. Every Stephen King book I've read has been really enjoyable up to about the midway point, then it has gotten progressively more boring, pointless, and/or nonsensical after that until the end leaves me thinking "Huh? Was that it?"

I don't read Stephen King any more, for this very reason.

In Ron Howard's corner are producer Brian Grazer and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman just to keep you updated.

Never had a problem with the endings, of course for me it's always been about the journey not the ending. A lot of people get wrapped up in endings, not me, I honestly feel that most writers have trouble coming up with fantastic or even good endings. I can't remember reading any ending that just totally blew me away or I even cared about.

The crew has a lot of marks for it and plenty against it as well. Stephen King is an excellent author, creating complete characters and worlds as to be completely believable. His adaptations have been both good and bad, with most of the fault being in the screenwriter, director, and actors, rather than the source. To tell if this will be any good, we need to examine the previous body of work the crew has done.

Ron Howard, Akiva Goldsman, and Brian Grazer have been working together for years to produce such work as "Angels and Demons," "The Da Vinci Code," "Cinderella Man," and "A Beautiful Mind." This pedigree can go either way, it seems. With luck, this current project will be a win.

Maybe he'll tweak the ending a little for the films, like in "The Mist". Really liked the movie ending compared to the short story for that one.

I never thought I'd see the day. The Dark Tower is one of my favorite series. I wanted to stab through my eyes and in to the area of my brain the contains the memory of reading beyond Stephen King's warning about reading beyond the 'happy ending'. Granted you kind of knew what was coming.

Too bad the ending is shit. I don't see how this could be a good thing.
Personally, I thought the ending was quite apropos, I can't see it ending any other way.
But it didn't.... There's no.... It all just....

Never mind, glad you liked it.

Cheers
lmao no its cool. there are so many who agree with you. even king himself has said that he has trouble with endings.
Yeah man, it's 50\50 with most people, and you certainly have the right to that opinion. Can't please all the people all the time, lol.
I really hated the ending when I first read it. Infact I think I punched the actual book. After reading it again a few times all the way from "The Gunslinger". I have to say the ending has really grown on me....like some kind of wart I am quiet fond of. Seriously though these are my favorite books in the whole world. Amazed he finnished them before I died. Totaly chuffed about the adaptation.

Not sure what chuffed means, lol. I'm guessing that means that you're not fond of the idea of it becoming a film/t.v. series. It's a scary prospect I will agree, but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.

Is there an actual site that confirms this anywhere? OP is a little uncited.

It's certainly be interesting to see how they do this, and maybe we might finally get a decent Stephen King movie/tv show (that isn't Storm of the Century).

I hope they change the last two books' story so that it sucks less. They could start by not having Stephen King himself appear. It was a nice touch when his name was mentioned in a book-store, but when he himself became a character....that sucked. And I stopped reading there. Which is a shame because I loved the first three books and thoroughly enjoyed book four and five.

I thought the way he added himself into the story was very cool. I think I would be really pissed if they changed it.
