The fact is the novel is utter garbage written by an aggravatingly hypocritical woman who's ideas have all the infuriating aspects of individualism mixed with an almost cult-like degree of collectivism. It has no sense of three dimensional characters and relies upon strawmen to get it's point across rather than standing on it's own merits. It's a piece of garbage, plain and simple.

I think the Characters in "Atlas Twerked Shrugged" were literally 2-dimensional by design.

It still boggles my mind that this doorstop/brick/anchor/murder weapon of a book got a movie deal at all, let alone allowed to be completed. I kind of want to see bob rip this one up again (with a chainsaw). And having a kickstarted campaign to fund a movie about Objectivism? Doesn't that break some law of that philosophy, or something?
Anyway, for me the only cool Libertarians are Park & Rec's Ron Goddamn Swanson, and the drummer of RUSH, Neal Pert.

THe book's not really TERRIBLE, at least not if you can get ppast the political agenda (or not be bought in/swayed by it) and take it as one of the more boring fictional dystopian future novels. Its at least made me want to read some of her other stuff, though none of it for the philosophy.

The sad thing is, I actually kinda wnate to watch these movies, even though I heard they're terrible. But knowing its going to have Hannity, Beck, and Paul in this now turns me off to the idea. Since all we're missing is Rush Limbaugh to have an onscreen "who can shove their head further up their ass" contest.

Urgh, yeah.
I was actually wondering whether I'd see it myself when its cinematic run was over or it was shown on TV or something, but... well. I mean, having Paul or Norquist there is stupid. Having Beck there is utterly ridiculous. Having Hannity there is completely revolting.
Then again, this sounds just like the pseudo-Libertarian Tea Party nonsense so many on the far right Fox fringe are engaged in right now that it's really not surprising they'd bring their pundits in, too, the ones who sell the Bible-loving, authoritarian, big government version of what counts for Libertarianism, also.

It would have to be a slow week to tackle this ailing project that I wasn't aware existed until this thread came up. I am curious about Chipman's position on Objectivism. I have read that he's a libertarian, so he would have sympathies for the objectivist movement, wouldn't he?
