First off I apologize for what will probably just be me ranting and also if anyone is offended that is not my intention.
I currently attend East Texas Baptist University and live in the dorms. Up until this semester my roommates her have all been great guys.
Please note that despite the fact that I'm going to a Baptist college I am not a particularly religious person. That was actually a mark against the school in my opinion.
My current roommates are three religion majors, all planning to be pastors when they graduate.
I fully admit that they are good people and separately I would have little to no problems with them. But together they have managed to hit every petty little thing I HATE in people.
They often offer me religious guidance because I don't feel the need to go to church every Sunday.
They watch nothing but the Disney Channel and Friends.
They have all been friends for years and get loud and stupid completely at random.
They want to include me in the random stupidity. I want no part of it.
They sing hymns at random, usually off key.
They play the guitar. loudly and badly. Often when I'm sleeping.
One of them prefers the ukelele.
The single thing I have in common with them at all is that we're all white, so we can't even hold a conversation. Those that do occur usually get sidetracked by religion, which I have never enjoyed talking about.
I can think of only 2 things they haven't done to drive me up the wall.
They have shown no signs of either racism or homophobia.
I feel bad because they are genuinely good people. I just can't stand them.
Friends have actually invited me to room with them in a different dorm next semester.
I was going to base my decision on whether my current roommates were planning to stay in this same room. I asked them. They are. I told I wasn't because i can't stand them anymore.
Somehow it bothers me that they don't seem to care at all. I'm a little afraid I'm turning into that jerk roommate you always hear about online. The one that's always on the recieveing end of pranks. Am I just overreacting?
Feel free to share your own roommate stories for that matter.
