Sounds pretty cool. I already put down a few bucks towards this. If you're a fan, you should too if you haven't already (there are bonuses for donating too!).

Granted, RT has an outstanding community and they've already raised the vast majority of their $650,000 30-day goal in... 8 hours. So this already seems like it'll happen. But there is still time to toss in your quid if you wanna support it.

As for the premise, they don't say much about it other than it's a sci-fi comedy involving aliens coming to Earth, but given RT's superb track record with sci-fi comedy, I have faith that this will be worthwhile.

This doesn't suprised me (no I ain't one of the guys who keep asking them when they're going to make a film) seeing how their company kept on growing throughtout the years (seriously their current third office if a bloody HUGE warehouse!). Anyway I have high hopes they will contiune prosper to and their film to be successful.

So I love RT, I've been a fan for nearly half my life but I don't see this being anything other than an outright failure.

Well, they achieved their goal.

I dislike the fact they chose Indiegogo and chose the flexible funding model though.

Red vs Blue, the web's longest running series
Achievement Hunter, a group of charismatic gaming scamps
The RT Podcast, focusing on current events and accurate science
RWBY, the world's newest anime sensation
Red Vs Blue, which is pretty damn good.
Achievement Hunter, which has nothing to do with film making.
The RT Podcast, which (as much as I love it) really knows bugger all about science.
RWBY, the world's latest luke-warm and half-arsed entry into the already bloated anime business and comes off like Oum's personal wank-dream with glaring technical problems and if this is the quality of their latest works, is not an endorsement.

We have the infrastructure to produce the content, the funds we are raising are for production and production quality. That means most of the dollars will end up on the screen, which is exactly where you want them.
So, they're saying they have the money and equipment, but want you to pay so they can be bothered to get the time together despite being a full time production company who can do this?

I thought the point of these crowd-funding things was so people who could never get the funding might have a chance; I wish companies would piss off, they're already established.

Also, for $5000 dollars, you can be a background character in our not-very-good anime. I mean, sure, if you want to pay, good for you. But this isn't going to charity like G.R.R. Martin, so it's just greedy AND a terrible prize.

And given RWBY, their latest production with the most money and equipment given to it, their track record just went from 100% to 50% decent.

I'm enthused but guarded. I don't give a flying fig about Achievement Hunter, the Podcast is okay but nothing special, RWBY is terrible (and I so want it to be good. I so so so want it to be good.) but I've bought all the RVB that's been available at Fan Expo in Canada up to 2012 at full price because I love it so much.

So on the strength of RvB I'll give this a chance.

I kinda gotta agree with the whole RWBY thing. (Going on a short rant) I was so excited after seeing the trailers, and while it had its moments, it seriously lacked the quality we came to expect from the trailers. A lot of floaty animations, weak anime tropes, and not exactly much of a *plot* right at the start... I dunno.

I want to like it though, I really do. I still listen to I Burn and From Shadows to this day cause of how much I enjoyed what I saw. But god dammit Rooster Teeth, it's not very great right now! What happened? Why is it not very good? >.<

OT: Um, good for them I guess? Maybe it'll go well
