Since you mentionned the Wii, I would probably recommend the Paper Mario Series. At least, you can get the gamecube one and let her play.

A lot of the older equip-and-go RPG are a good suggestion. I have found that games like the Prince of Persia trilogy and surprisingly Animal Farm and Pikman are AMAZING female gateway games. That or go off of what books she reads.

Maybe a point and click adventure to start with instead of an RPG? Something like Sam and Max, which also has the benefit of being hilarious.

Hmmm... that is a tough one... don't know if some big, sprawling RPG is right for a gaming noob.

But for good, old RPGs for PC... you have Morrowind (not a good idea for a noob) and Deus Ex (only played like 15 minutes of it, but I know that it is not right for a noob).
Maybe she should stick with less complicated games until she is comfortable with games.
Then get her Morrowind.

Fable 2

Oh, for PC.

um... KOTOR?
Good idea, KOTOR is just what she needs, not extremely complicated, story-driven, and entertaining.
KOTOR would work

I'd say Oblivion or Mass Effect, if she can run them. Maybe even 'The Witcher', it has a fantastic story and unique gameplay. One of the best RPGs in recent memory, imo.

Final Fantasy X, probably. The story is a great personal one with an emphasis on romance, and the battle system isn't time-based at all, so you have as long as you want to pick your options. Also, since it has voice acting and better graphics, it might be a better introduction to gaming, since it might be kind of hard for a noob to take the dated graphics and subtitles dialogue of FFVII seriously.

Personally, VII is my favorite, but I think X would be better to start someone off.
X is the best FF to start with, the TBS system instead of the ATB system allows for more time and to predict bosses actions, the graphics are easy on the eyes and the protagonist is pretty and relate able (because she wont know what the hell is going on either!) this is the game i got my friend to play, shes been hooked on rpg since.

fable 2 or fallout 3. Pick one. Also tell her that celebrities are in both. Liam Neeson and that lady from the Bond movies

Try to start her out easy, Give her Fire Emblem or Advance Wars, something with a storyline that's pretty much just rock paper scissors plus chess. Or Maybe a Mario RPG. Mario 64 is pretty good.

You can get emulators pretty easily and the roms for all of those are available via Google.

Baldur's Gate 2 is a relatively simple and older RPG and one of the first games I've played, and it's not entirely necessary to have played the first one for it to make sense. Though I could recommend that as well.

I was doing quite well introducing my non gaming girlfriend to games thanks to the likes of Peggle, Puzzle Quest (another good option), and a few other xbox live arcade titles. Sadly she's now addicted to Farmville *sigh*

Everyone is different, remember that. I certainly can't disagree with the resounding call for KotOR, but only if she likes star wars.
Avoid anything that requires her to master camera control (KotOR almost plays itself, so it's not so much of a drama). Most new gamers (and especially women) have difficulty manipulating multiple things within the simulated 3D environs we all thrive in. Older games are better for that, being stuck with an isometric camera, or side-scrolling. If she wouldn't mind the dark setting, someone else suggested Diablo II, which is incidentally the first game my now wife got into.
If she's a real girly-girl, you're going to have a greater difficulty getting her 'into gaming', because what you will consider a good game will either have too steep a learning curve and/or not interest her in the slightest. To contribute something else, Sid Meier's Pirates! has a good combination of different game elements. The boat and sword combat are both easy to get a handle on, the game also has a little trading and romancing governors' daughters is a little rythem based minigame. That's another one my wife has really enjoyed.
Oh, and my wife is currently bashing her way through Dragon Age, which I described as "kinda like a 3D diablo"

KOTOR, as so many other people have suggested.
When she's angry at you, KOTOR 2. Hopefully she'll become so frustrated at the ending that she forgets all about your problem.

Download a sega genesis emulator, and get phantasy star 4 or shining force 2 =D
<= fan boy of those two games
these games are also on the wii (with no masturbation/handjob practice!) for like 800 wii points... which is 8 dollars a pop

Morrowind or KotOR. I found a lot of girls like Diablo 2 (with good reason) but that is beyond OLD.

My brother wanted his girlfriend to try out Dragon Age: Origins on the Xbox. He insisted, and now she's even completed Dragon Age: Awakening.
It's a fun and entertaining game. Goes smoothly for any newb in learning.

So, I've been telling her that she should try out a game some time, since she's had close to NONE gaming experience before in her life, and like the nerd I am gaming is dear to me.
I suggested she should play a nice RPG, since it's rather slow paced and focus on story and all that.
Anyone got tips? And possibly dont bring on superweird JRPGS with furries and tentacles, she's not nerdy at all. I've thought about FF7 though (I've mostly just played/enjoyed the FF series).

oh, and for PC! And a somewhat older game, it's for an old laptop. Or possibly for the Wii (if there are any decent RPGs on Wii and if i can part with it for some time)
Well, as has been mentioned a few times and personaly my favourite RPGs, oblivion and KOTOR could both be good choices, but that depends on how much she'd like the gametype (aka. whether she actualy likes star wars etc. lol)

Another game that was mentioned breifly earlier that seems to me would be a good choice would be Dreamfall - The Lingest Journey http://www.dreamfall.com/

Very heavily story driven, quite emmersive, and not to aggressive and hack + slash for a newcomer.
