So I've put 219 hours into Dragon Age Origins, I own ALL DLC for it. I'm considering another playthrough but I kinda want a new game. I want an RPG in the same vein as Dragon Age Origins.

I've played and beat all the Mass Effect games, and beat all the DLC though I need to do citadel a few more times to see it all.

I don't like KOTOR (any of them) as I really really loath Star Wars (dodges stones).

I've played and beat Alpha Protocol a few times as well.

I'd love another Fantasy RPG similar to Dragon Age Origins, it doesn't have to be a triple A game, hell it could be a 2 side scroller for all I care but it needs to have interesting characters, a story and lore I can get into.

Oh and PS don't recommend Dragon Age II, we shall not discuss that ...."game"...

NWN is best played by avoiding the main campaign and playing in a coop format with a DM running a custom game though - it is less game and more tabletop pen'n'paper platform and toolset.

But they did recently re-release Baldur's Gate 1 Enhanced Edition, you could look into that and wait for Baldur's Gate 2 EE.

Have you could also look at The Witcher 1+2?

Well, there's Skyrim. That game'll keep ya busy for a while *points to 350 hour pre-DLC save file*

Other than that, I second Baldur's Gate 2, or the Champions of Norrath PS2 games. Not to mention Final Fantasy 12: it's pretty darn similar to Dragon Age what with the Gambit system (basically the same as DA's squadmember directions), grandiose, political story and seamless exploring-to-combat-to-exploring gameplay.

The Witcher 2

It's hard but really rewarding once you figure it out. It's a graphic intensive game but you can tweak it to the ground if needed

Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 should keep you occupied for some time.

Icewind Dale 2 can be an immensely pleasurable game if you're into tactics (the story's nothing special, as far I remember).

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a personal favourite, pretty different from most things out there. Be sure to use a fanmade patch, though, because otherwise the game is pretty broken.

And Planescape: Torment also needs to appear on this list, or the universe will explode.

If you really don't care about graphics, try Planescape: Torment. It's generally considered the best RPG ever made story and character-wise. You can get it on GoG.com and you can mod it to fit widescreen monitors, remove bugs and graphical glitches and so on (it's real easy too, a simple google search will give you all the info you need)

The setting, characters and overall interactions in that game are amazing and some of the stuff you get to/can do is awesome (like letting a zombie chew on your arm while you remove a ring it's wearing instead of outright fighting it, or killing yourself just to prove a point in a discussion about the afterlife)

Combat is pretty bad though and you might have to read up on some old school D&D rules to understand some of the stats. Best played on a low difficulty just to enjoy the story.

Deus Ex is my all time favourite game. Ever. Great story, great setting, great characters, lots of depth, great mechanics. And just to be perfectly clear, I'm talking about the original Deus Ex, not Human Revolution. HR was ok, but it was nowhere near as deep, intricate or interesting as the original game.

Well, Dragon Age: Origins was made as a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate. In my opinion it hasn't aged brilliantly, but lots of people still love it and it should scratch your itch.

Planescape: Torment has my favourite RPG story of all time. Just be warned that the combat and dungeon design is sub-par at best.

The Avernum and Geneforge series are good fun, too. Though I found a tad hard to get into at first.

Planescape Torment is pretty much the best thing ever. NWN1's campaign is pretty worthless, though I've heard the expansions were half-way decent. NWN2 is kinda love/hate, but its expansion "Mask of the Betrayer" is fantastic. VtMB is worth checking out. Most people would forgive you if you skipped Baldur's Gate altogether and just played its sequel instead. New Vegas is the best Bethesda-style RPG, though it isn't actually a Bethesda game. I personally really enjoy the first two Fallout games still, but they are dog fucking slow and really clunky. Jagged Alliance 2 is a really neat RPG/turn-based squad tactics game. Ion Storm's Anachronox is a really cool and unique little RPG, though I had a hell of a time getting it close to functional on my computer. I'm working through Arcanum right now myself, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Finally, Shadowrun Returns is supposed to be out in, like... June? I think? Looks pretty solid right now, even if it is supposed to be the least ambitious of the big-name Kickstarter RPGs. The Genesis/SNES Shadowrun RPG is still quite good, too.

Whatever you do choose, there's probably a wretched mass of developer patches, fan patches, restored content mods, etc. to go through to "experience it properly", so you may want to do a bit of research/report back in after picking a game.

Neverwinter Nights 2 - the best party based RPG game since Baldur's Gate 2. It's kinda a stepping stone between BG2 and DA:O. Big lengthy OC to get your teeth into.

You can get the ultimate edition on gog.com for like $16 I think.

Well damn, everything suggest I've played, except for the JRPGs which I don't enjoy and don't have a console for anyways. I guess I should of mentioned I'm strictly a PC gamer. Honestly I was hoping some RPG master would come in here and suggest some lesser well known rpgs. Because I've beat or at least played most the mainstream ones.

Dragon Age: Origins is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. My high points in Dragon Age II was when they were talking about DA:O. And I too have been sticking my nose out for the Ultimate Edition of DA:O. It was just the epitome of epic fantasy adventure. The end slide show even put it into a story format, reminded me of all those Greek myths about the Heroes and demigods.

I had the same itch and found The Witcher 2. The world is definitely really rich even if the game is basically a preview of a much larger adventure in The Witcher 3.
Pay attention to the factions and names. My second play through was much richer because I finally got everything in order.

I've beat the Witcher 2 a few times. Someones got to have a good suggestion for me? Anyone? Something I've never played. I'll give you 100 internet cookies.

It may be personal preference, but I've been playing and getting a bit of a kick out of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
