Hello fellow Escapists. I am currently installing Baldur's Gate 2 and am considering buying Never-winter Nights off of Steam. Are there any other RPG games you would recommend me looking into or buying? Thanks for your time.

I'm going to go for the obvious suggestions:

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Fallout 1 & 2
Fallout 3 (If you like Baldur's, the first and the second one will suit you better)
Fallout New Vegas
Bioshock (RPG-y but not entirely)
Borderlands (same as above)
Dungeon Siege II (I've never completed it, it's kinda tedious, but the game is good non the less)
Mass Effect 1 & 2

Take your pick

You'll want to finish the Baldur's Gate games first, of course. Afterwards:

Planescape: Torment

Fallout 2

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

Try Wild Arms 3. I just bought it for my PS2 and it is great so far...well I fucked on with Gallows but meh.

EDIT: Yes for the love of God play Arcanum.

I never played Neverwinter Nights 1, but I HATED NWN2. Most people here will say the obvious ones like ME1&2, Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc. so my suggestion is Persona 3 and 4 for the PS2 and PSP. Both are awesome JRPGs (I like 3 a little more than 4 personally)

(Captcha - Example Ionang. I'd gladly use Ionang as an example, but I do not know who he is o_O)

If your Currently installing Baldurs Gate 2 then it will be at least a month or 2 before you will be done, assuming you go outside and have a life etc :D

Honestly the story of Arabelle or however you spell it {neverwinter nights 1} is absolute RPG GOLD and I would happily reccomend it to anyone, extremely cheap now to be sure.
I enjoyed neverwinter nights 2 and assuming you play one , you might be surprised to see how the game is with the newer ruleset and prestige classes.

If you like a different perspective but still want uber deep story , adventure, charachter "leveling" and action than look no further than System Shock 2 , and then Deus Ex ONE.. In that order, the latter would make the former look a bit too primative but the mechanics are still Amazing to this very day .

Final fantasy 4 was one of my faves and it was newly revamped for the PSP
I'm currently enjoying Borderlands although thats kind of a mishmash of Rpg and FPS which have been opposites for awhile
FF 9 is also great
the world ends with you is... I don't know if its an rpg but it was pretty fun and I gotta say I love the characters and story. I definitely came away from that game feeling refreshed.
the kingdom hearts series
Oblivion/Fallot are nice if you like the whole 'blank slate' kind of character.
If you don't like the blank slate character I hear that dragon age is pretty awesome.

The ultimate rpg that I suggest and one you cannot POSSIBLY hope to beat is dungeons and dragons.
Get some friends together read the books in your free time buy a box of soda and order a pizza your pretty much assured to have a good night.

Dont buy NWN 1, the only reason i played it was because it was the new thing out. But i never finished it or went back to it. Its just very bland and boring.

On the Eastern end of things Summoner for the PS2 was a really enjoyable experience for me back in the day. It's not terribly polished but the menus are simple and accessible and if you've played D&D the leveling system works similarly to skill points, so it's not a difficult game to get a grasp on. It's also the first time I was exposed to that Dead Gentlemen D&D routine.

As for the JRPG route well . . . if you can stomach the frustration in Xenosaga, and the is no shortage of it believe me, there's a lot of good to be found in those games. Just keep a stress ball on hand, especially during Episode II.

Planescape: Torment because it has the best story ever.

Quoting you as a shameless attention grab, yes. Mostly because I can get you a copy now (if you want) and I figured you may want to know that. Send me a PM if you want the game?

Might as well ask here since I'm also looking for some new RPG game(s).

Now to define it a bit, I like the 'blank slate' RPGs like FallOut, Elder Scrolls and such, I like forming my charecter through the game, be it stats or personality and I enjoy an original gamestyle/rpg element.

Mass Effect and Dragons Age did not appeal to me, sure the story was great but the gameplay was tedious and have been beaten to death (I swear, if I encounter another game using the D&D rulebook I'll punch my brother for buying every RPG rulebook known to man)

Also as if I havent already made the request hard, it has to be a new'ish game (As in after 2008 at least) since I've been through a LOT of games.

Oh and I have a PC (duh) and a PS3, also have a PS2 somewhere.

Some of the games I've been through:
Elder Scrolls (The lot of em)
FallOut (Every one of them, even Tactics and the god awful Brotherhood of Steel for PS2)
Two Worlds 1/2 (The second one wasnt half bad)
Magicka (Of course)
Borderlands
Torchlight
Dungeon Siege 1/2 + Space Siege (And I only liked the first one, blank slate and all that jazz)
Hellgate: London (Heard there might be a Hellgate: Tokyo comming, or is it out in Japan?)
Final Fantasy (Almost all of them, missing some of the newest, but re-playing FF8 on the PS3)

ps. anybody know if theres a Monster Hunter game for the PS3? (An updated one on PSN perhaps?)
