I like grind. I like the idea that I can get stronger in a game by putting effort into it, even if I don't actually get better at the game. I also like having something to show for my time put into a game. So why aren't there more games for this?
There seems to be a boring MMO coming out every year, yet there's almost never an RPG. I don't mean like Fable or Oblivion. I mean like Diablo 2 or an MMO that is made into a single player game. I hate team games. It's just more chances of having someone screw up. Plus there's griefers and that thing where you spend hours spamming LFG. That's not even counting the fact that they cost $15 a month.
But that's just my (crazy) opinion. Does anyone have any idea why RPGs are behind MMOs so much? Are there any good RPGs out there?

There are plenty of good RPGs out there, although I have to admit, most of my favourites are JRPGs.

For example, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Final Fantasy VII though to XII and Golden Sun are fantastic RPGs, as are Star Wars: KoTOR 1/2, Fallout and the Elder Scrolls games.
