With A rig like that I'd be getting all of my games for it.

I reccomend Fable: The lost chapters, too. Or Knights of the Old Republic.

For old games (talking a decade ago almost) Id recommend the Baldurs Gate series. My favourite all time series and Baldurs Gate II is my all time favourite game. Its not just opinion though, since this series is one of those undisputed best games ever sort of titles. A good game series if you don?t like losing your leveled character through sequel. Bioware makes the story your own and you keep it through the second game and its expansion. If you liked taking your own character in Oblivion and leveling up, you might like taking you character through the Baldurs Gate games, and literally being worthy of godhood by the end because of your power.

Though I have only had a small experience with it (its on my shameful why havent I played list) I have enough respect for it to recommend Fallout. For the same reasons as Baldurs Gate I would say, you just dont get that kind of critical and fan reaction if its not among the best there is. This is slightly different from fantasy though, since its post-apocalyptic setting, so its a far cry from Zelda or Oblivion. Hard to find though I believe.

Planescape: Torment blows Oblivions pathetic story out of the water, even out of the same universe. Best RPG story Ive ever played, no doubt. Again, somewhat hard to find I think.

Morrowind like others have said, is the same formula as Oblivion, being The Elder Scrolls III. Despite some people being wrong and not realising this, Morrowind did many things far better than Oblivion did, and its worth playing to check these out. The story alone being one of them, since you are actually a prophesised earth shaker, not the illegitimate emperors son's personal lapdog. Also the amount of quests to do craps on Oblivions pissant selection.

Mass Effect, again is much different to fantasy, its a sci-fi space adventure. Great story, phenomenal voice acting and facial features, fun but shooterish combat. A great game and still a worthwhile RPG.

KOTOR/II are fun turn based Star Wars RPG's. The first has a solid but not mould breaking storyline aside from a great twist. The Second has a more mature (unique for Star Wars) storyline and refined gameplay and combat, but sadly is a rushed game and suffers. With KOTOR IIs rushed flaws, Id say its down to personal opinion, but theyre both great.

My favourite PC RPG is Icewind Dale II, give it a try if you like other games using the classic Infinity Engine. It has a very different feel to other games set in the Forgotten Realms world and generally feels pretty epic, though if you like talking and other such roleplaying aspects then your in no such luck here it's mostly action with a fair amount of strategy.

But other than that, Xaositect has it down pat. All of the games he's/she's mentioned are great fun.

You have a PS3?

Grab an old copy of FFX. I personally loved it. Then again I see FFIX as better than FFVII so my opinions tend to be away from the main branch of fans.

Also, second Morrowind if you can get it to run. There's a nice pack going around with the two expansions.

Morrowind's awesome, but playing Oblivion before it might damage the experience. Definitely try it if you can stand inferior combat and graphics. Morrowind is superior to Oblivion in most other aspects.

Well, if you liked Oblivion then obviously Morrowind and the Baldur's Gate series (ugly graphics my arse, just because they're old doesn't mean they're not beautiful)Deus Ex is a good example of a RPFPS so that's worth a go too.

Planescape: Torment, without a doubt. It's one of the - if not *the* - greatest games of all time, regardless of genre.

Diablo, KoTOR, Baulders Gate is a MUST.

If you have a Wii try bargain bin diving for Tales of Symphonia for the GC. It was an AMAZING game.

ExBawks 360
Eternal Sonata
Lost Odyssey (if you like Ultra Traditional JRPG's)
Mass Effect

Playstation 2
Suikoden 3, 4 and 5
Final Fantasy 10, 12
Wild Arms 4
Persona 3: FES
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Digital Devil Saga 2

Don't seal yourself off from everything that isn't strictly RPG. I love RPG's, but that doesn't mean I always want to play one. Try a RTS, like Warcraft 3, for a fun storyline with a bit more of that satisfying spalsh of violence. Heck, if you want games that are never played the same way then get Civ IV or Rome.

If you want to stick to RPG's, then get something newish like Neverwinter Nights 2. It's the same basic mechanic as Baldur's Gate, but with some updated graphics and a little less of a learning curve.

Whatever decision you make, don't go buying up games that cost 50 or 60 bucks. There are lots of great games for under $20, and seeing how you are not sure what you want I would recommend sleeping around a little before you commit. Be promiscuous!

I'd agree with Mass Effect, although I'd recommend getting it on the PC rather than the XBox, I've got the GTS8800 as well(The old 320Mb one), and it's very smooth and pretty.

I really liked The Witcher, although the cheese-laden dialogue got to me a bit, and although I like my boobs gratuitous, even I have limits. Great locations though, with plenty of hours of game time to enjoy, and the combat's pretty fun. It's a lot more linear than Oblivion, but there's still plenty of side-quests, and the world that you can explore is well fleshed out. Wait for the enhanced edition in the autumn though, as on release it was buggy as hell, and although it's a lot better now, the improvements in the new version are meant to be significant.

On the XBox, I was enjoying Lost Odyssey, until I got the RRoD last Saturday. I'm not usually a huge fan of JRPGs, but this one seems to involve a lot fewer hours of mindless grinding. The last JRPG I enjoyed before that was Shadow Hearts: Covenant on the PS2, which is really good fun.

Okami for the Wii, or the Playstation 2 I suppose. (The one on the Wii is a port, but I think the wiimote is more suited to the drawing than a dualshock)

The puzzle solving is very similar to the zelda games, though I think the combat is a little more enjoyable. Also you're a wolf, who can actually run at a decent clip. That's always a plus.

It's only about 30 hours, but can stretch to 40 if you go for the Stray Beads sidequest. The final boss is very satisfying, totally worth fighting.

The Witcher for PC, most certain!

Im trying to play Fallout 1 and 2, it just seems hard to really get into in the mechanics of just playing it.

I have to second the recomendation for Overlord. There is also downloadable content to extend game play. It is not as long as Oblivion but it is new and fun.

Knights of the old republic. I have had a lot of fun playing this and you would probably too. Also KOTOR2 is good and refines on some things about KOTOR and theres a modding community thats restoring it to the full game since it was rushed.

Morrowind. Simply better then oblivion.

I find it's best played by really getting into the story and visuals while actively ignoring the game mechanics as much as you can.
