Legend of Zelda. it's a great series with this sense of charm that never goes away. I'd try the DS ones. the puzzles aren't the hardest, but I personally like the Wind Waker art style the most.

A little off topic but I hate how steam (and other sites/people) calls them RPG Games... "Role Playing Game Games"? really?

Sir, I love you. I must now go buy Dungeon Siege 3 just to play the first one which holds so many cherished memories. I am forever in your debt.

OT: The Witcher, and The Bard's Tale. The Bard's Tale is by far the funniest game I have ever played and also quite good.
oh man we need a new bards tale and a "good" dnd game

Not any of those three, not a JRPG, and not hack-and-slash?

Cause Demons Souls is both a JRPG and a hack-and-slash.
As is Nier, which is what I would suggest.

... my advice? Go play a JRPG.

Got to say the same as everyone else, your best bet is giving JRPGs another try. Atlus does good ones, Shin Megami Tensei especially and Demon's Souls is another strong one. Or give hack and slashers a try and get Bayonetta.

I don't know about recent non-JRPG and non-those-companies, but if you can find a way to score a copy of Skies of Arcadia, you take that game and never let it go.

I would think he doesn't like jrpgs if he specifically said, not a jrpg.

And everyone that's recommending Demons Souls, that's hack-n-slash, even though it might not have your typical jrpg type artstyle.
It looks to be a hack-and-slash, but if you play it like one (ie. button mashing combos...) you will die. The game rewards those who are slower and methodical, as well as rewarding those who pay attention, mainly by not dieing. It's less hack-and-slash than Oblivion and Morrowind were.
