My tenants of life:

1. Keep a file on everyone.
2. Defend your friends as your family, defend your family as your self.
3. The unseen man hears everything. See tenant one.
4. Brains over brawn, firearms over both.
5. Fighting fair is only fighting stupid.
And most importantly:
6. When all else fails, take them down with you.

I'm a cynical man. My philosophy is that people won't hurt that which scares them, and since I'll never do it by force, I have to be smarter and better prepared.

Just as long as you don't consider empathy a weakness.

Yes, you do, if your salad is kick arse potato salad with mayo, crunchy bacon and sun dried tomatoes! At least, that's my experience.

My own rule for living is simple. Be a decent person. Or put more negatively: don't be a dick.

It seems to work.

I think one of the biggest lessons I've learnt is to never believe everything you hear. People lie all the time. People have agendas. Keep your mouth shut about things you don't know about and observe and think. Don't get sucked in.

Try and love everything and everyone as much as you can

All you need is love. Not easy by any means and a lot of days i just want to set fire to the entire fucking planet, but I try.

Is that you Flonne?

In all honesty though, an attitude like that is quite rare in this cynical day and age. While I think it's incredibly dangerous personally, I wish you all the best with that candid, carefree spirit.

I simply can't imagine it. Harboring a harsh and bitter enmity toward all things is just so...refreshing and wonderful, it instills a youthful vigor and a pleasant pragmatism. I wouldn't dare recommend it to others, but I could never change that part of me.

I've had a lot of different rules throughout my life ranging from [i/]Everything is a comedy[/i] to generic stuff like [i/]Keep your friends close and your enemies closer[/i]

Over time, every rule I have had has had a major exception and been rendered useless.

Except one.

One single life rule that stands above the others as a shining example.

[b/]Try not to be a dick[/b]

Seriously. If everyone on Earth lived by this, everything would be better. Obviously you can't do it all the time. But if people just [i/]tried[/i] things would be fantastic.

'Don't be a dick' seems to cover just about everything. It's not saying you have to be some saint and create world peace or anything, you can live however you want, just not at the cost of others.

'Live as if you're going to die tomorrow, dream as if you're going to live forever' is another good one. The dreaming part I'm good at, not so much the living part.

This saves a lot of my time on the internet.
1.Do not argue with people on the internet
2. if you must argue, do not try to argue with people who use anecdotal evidence
3. When you argue if you must use more 4 sentences or a single paragraph then you are wasting your time
4. party hard

I've always preferred Hope for the best; expect the worst to the one in the OP.

But anyway since that's taken, Never show that you have any emotions beyond subtle things like a smile. Showing emotion will result in people exploiting them and more misery will ensue.

To overcome adversity you must first overcome yourself.

Never borrow or lend anything.

Only ever trust a small handful of people.

Be polite.

[sub]Have a plan to kill everyone you meet[/sub]

And on a less serious note: Sit back, put your feet up and go with it.

"you die at the end, didn't anyone tell you?" - Doug Stanhope

life is completely meaningless in the grand scheme of literally, everything that happens. just be happy in the time you have, doing the things that matter to you.

1. It'll be fine in the end. If it's not fine, it's not the end
2. Trust but verify.
3. Don't trust anyone.

Don't ask me how my brain reconciles 2 and 3. It just does.

'Criticism is always right; advice is always wrong'

Something I came up with when asking opinions on my writing.
