I got ME1 and ME2 on PC, if you couldn't carry saves over to ME3 then this is what would make me buy it on PC again. In all seriousness though, I imagine that any motion control bits will be entirely optional. I'm not here to hate on motion controls.

Oh God I hope this isn't true. However, if it is, I'm pretty sure it would only be something like scanning your own face and placing it on Shepard.

Ha ha ha.... No.

Until you get some sort of malleable gun controller (ie, something that actually looks and feels like the guns you use but can change shape based on what gun you have out in game) and stick me in a room with 360 degree screen surrounding me I will have no interest in motion controls in a shooting game, or an RPG, really. Hell the only game I've played that I can really stomach the shooting controls for with a motion controller is the Metroid Prime series.

All things considered though, a motion based shooter done right sounds like a whole lot of fun to me, though I suspect that it will be some years before we see a real gem come to fruition.

And the tradition of sucky Mass Effect box art continues. Pity.

Or maybe Kinect could figure into the whole relationship part of the game.

Will Mass Effect 3 become the first Microsoft-approved Kinect sex game? Probably not, but a guy can hope to squeeze some blue alien butt, can't he?
That would be entertaining, but given how much flak BioWare caught for a half-second of alien sideboob in the first game, it seems very unlikely.

I think most people would prefer it without Kinect, to be honest. When I'm playing an RPG I don't think I'd be that much more drawn into the story if I had to stand up and flail about to perform certain actions.

It was called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metroid_Prime_3:_Corruption

I don't know why other shooters on wii always sucked when perfect examples were out there...
Then again there might be more, I stopped trying to play them.

. . . . and yet another pile of dirt is thrown on the grave of the company that Bioware used to be. After DA2 and now the steady stream of fail that keeps getting reported on Mass Effect 3 it's clear that Bioware isn't even a shell of it's former self any longer. It's obvious at this point EA killed that Bioware shortly after they bought them out and are making damn sure to take regular shits on it's grave.

C'mon, people, its a rumor. Streamlining rpg elements is one thing, but I doubt Bioware would do something like this. And even then, they wouldn't make it a core part of the game mechanics.

couldn't this help in navigating menus and stuff? meaning minigames. i think Bioware started putting these abominations in their games with KOTOR but really, did anyone ever like those things?
OR interactive romance conclusions.

Kinect radial menu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, if this is whats delaying the game FUCK THAT. This is a 3 platform game now and kinect suppost can be patched in easily later so. Get that game out the door.

I mentioned Metroid: Prime, it is a great game, but it could be done so much better, but that wasn't my point. I want to see a game that combines something like military training rifles and a wraparound screen for a full immersion styled game, it would be amazing, like paintball, except, you know, no welts at the end of the day, and I don't have to worry about my glasses fogging up because of my damned mask.

C'mon making Shepard look more like me with some sort of face scanner!
If this is the case, I support the Kinect thing whole-heartedly! Not that I have Kinect, it would just make total sense and be a great use of the equipment.

Post-panic edit:

Y'know what? I don't think this is as bad as it seems at first glance.

- The "Better with Kinect" label means that the gadget is optional, but not necessary. Like the Move with Killzone.
- They can't use Kinect in any significant way because it's a multi-platform game. 360, PC and PS3.
- An annoying optional gimmick is still optional.
- I'll be getting the PC version anyway. That's where my save files from ME.

So yeah... silly and a waste of time and resources, but I'm chalking this one up under "harmless".

If Bioware found some clever way to make the dialogue portion of the game Kinect-ified (i.e. actually tell what you're trying to say, but weeding out the troll-like answers), that would be pretty cool. MAYBE the mining, but Bioware, stay AWAY from the combat section! Combat was always ME's drawback, and something tells me Kinect would make it worse.

Ah EA... always finding someway to &#%$ up the Mass Effect games

First it was the Mako in ME

then the Mining in ME2

And now Adding Kinect for ME3

If anyone from EA is reading this, tell me: Do you guys stay up for NIGHTS on end to come up with this crap?!

may be nice if the inventory screen was Kinect centered. I wouldnt mind a minority report style interface :)

"Apparently, the folks at BioWare have been cooking something that all hardcore Mass Effect fans have been clamoring for: Kinect support."

That isn't a serious statement I hope? xD

Anyway, no Kinect, and I'll play it on PC anyway. Can't really see that much effort being put into it when it doesn't suit the game, and is only available on one platform.

I'm willing to bet it'll probably just be used for the conversations, but it might not. Anywho, it won't be required, so I'm okay with it...for now.
