Egypt, cool. That's neat...so I've been playing Syndicate and the controls are worse than ever. I'd rather they fix that first. Also, coming from someone who 99% completed WD, that IP needs to die. It was pretty terrible in all aspects.

I hope this is true. An AC game set in the ancient world? An AC game that isn't rushed out? An AC game that I actually give a shit if it comes out?

Hell yeah.
The last time it happened, we got Assassin's Creed II. So fingers crossed.

As nice as that would be I somehow doubt Ubisoft is going to slow down it's black hole of money anytime soon as long as the cost outweighs the sales, I'll believe it when I see it

I'd love to see an Assassin's Creed fight with a katana in use, it'd be amazing.
It'd be utterly identical to any fight in the last three AC games, just with a katana model instead of Another Fucking Sword #19.

Someone's probably already made a mod for it.
Yeah, but then you'd be missing out on being a ninja! What with all the Tenchu-styled roof-jumping and grappling hooks and smoke bombs and dart gu---...you know what? This all probably already exists in the form of a mod.

Nevermind.
Literally all of those are already in the games.

Pretty cool. Asses Creed has been mere reskins of the previous game for years now(you played one you played them all) but Watch Dogs while not overly original or exceptional was still really enjoyable. The driving was floaty and unresponsive and the gunplay lacked 'oomph' but still what essentially played like an open-world Splinter Cell Blacklist(and what was apparently the first attempt at this sort of game by Ubi) it wasn't bad. The 'hacking' felt gimmicky but it still added a neat little twist and was implemented quite well. The background story about ctOS and Dedsec was actually quite interesting and a connected city with people glued to their phones 24/7 was thematically relevant. The main story was kinda meh. Still, I loved the game's modern take on cyberpunk. If they improve upon the gameplay and background story of WD1 then the sequel could probably be really good.

I think a break is good for Assassin's Creed, but could not give a fuck about Watch$%&^%*&%$_Dogs.

I do not buy it. People have been yelling at Ubisoft to slow down for years and they don't listen.
Syndicate sold a fraction of what Unity sold. There's all the motive you need right there.

They didn't listen because sales were strong. Now they're not.

Well, of course the rumor's true... I mean, didn't the last game have two playable protagonist of equal length gameplay-wise?
It did not.

Egypt isn't surprising. I wonder if that means they're going to bring back their ancient aliens backstory? I remember they dropped it after modern male protagonist 19 died, but Egypt of all places would be perfect for bringing it back.
I skipped a couple of Creeds, but Syndicate (bought it because it was basically on fire sale) explicitly does deal with the ancient aliens.

I want to second this
hope they finally quit the bullshit and stop pretending we actually care about the future segments of AC
either make it past-only or make a cool future AC

other than that, I'm cool with Watch Dogs 2
the biggest issue I have with the original one is the unused potential so hopefully now they make it a good solid game

Then maybe Watch Dogs 2 can have driving that isn't absolute garbage? Seriously, how the hell did that game start out as a racing game?

Ubisoft is weird, they're often really good when it comes to improving on a game with a sequal but this is often because the first game in most ubisoft franchises are so basic they could be called a proof of concept.

A Look at the improvements between AC1 and 2 and you could be forgiven for thinking Watchdogs 2 might be worth your time when it releases.

Why do AC fans want feudal Japan the most anyway? Why is this specific time period the most often requested? Also I'll take this rumor with a grain of salt, since the source is 4chan of all people, not really the most reliable site on the internet.

If its true though, then good on Ubisoft for straying off the annual release bullshit that has been hurting AC games for a while now.
Because Ninjas! They don't realize that feudal japan has really uninspiring architecture besides the temples and castles. And those aren't really common like you can see tall buildings in the big cities in post-medieval Europe. It's mostly small wooden shacks. Honestly Feudal Japan would be quite a boring AC game if you ask me.

As for 4chan, it's a so-so source. I've seen many leaks there come true. Pretty much every Smash roster since Melee was leaked on /v/ and ended up being true. I remember when someone leaked Rosalina and Luma and Palutena, showed images and explained the gameplay mechanics exactly. People didn't buy it but it turned out true. The WiiU specs leaked there as well.
Since it's a completely anonymous platform, developer can safely leak things without risking of revealing themselves. But at the same time because of the anonymity, everyone can pretend to be someone from Ubishit.

OT:
Well if at ubishit they had at least one functioning brain, they would AC on a biyearly schedule instead of every year. If you're going to make it every year then it needs to be more fresh than if you do it every 2nd year. You have more time to do it right while also letting people get "hungry" for more.
As for Watch Dogs 2, after the disaster that was 1 I have not even the tiniest hope it will be any good. But since it's Ubishit, my opinion doesn't even matter since I won't buy the games anyways.

Really? Interesting. I might have to...watch it on youtube. I kind of dropped out around the second or so sequel to 2, though I picked up the Pirates one cause pirates (honestly, the pirating/ship parts are worthy of their own game to me) I figured they were still doing their meta-game tester commentary bit
This time you're some faceless operative out to find a new maguffin of Eden before the Templars find it.

I'm not entirely sure how interesting it is, though. It seems more like it's teasing for the next game than anything.

Believe it or not, but I do think it might've been Ubi's mindset, considering Watch Dogs 2 rumored being made/released instead of (another) AC game.

Well, then... I guess I give them too much credit... (Still weirded out about the lack of W_D2 hype, though...)

Ubisoft estimated that Evie was playable through about 25% of the story and Jacob 75%. I don't know if those numbers are exact, but based upon my playthrough, I'm guessing it's probably only a little more Evie time.
