Pretty sure this can go here under Gaming Discussion given what the sale is on and such. Steel thy selves! The summer sale is coming! I hope everyone prepared... I did! So what is everyone going to spend in the summer sale? Im probably going to be stingy with $50.

Capcha: Never give up (I swear this is not a rockroll...)

This date appears plausible, but I'll believe it when I see it. The rumored start dates on the Steam sales seem to be as reliable as the dates for the rapture. So far I've seen the summer sale rumored for first week of June, mid June, last week of June, 4th of July, and now July 11th.

Anyway... I'm hoping to pick up Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Company of Heroes 2, and Bioshock Infinite at discounted prices. They're all fairly recent-ish, so it seems like kind of a toss-up as to whether or not that'll happen. If it doesn't... meh... I'll just wait for the next sale.

I did a forum search for 'Steam Summer Sale' before posting. Besides, the thread is asking what you are hoping to purchase. Just... has the source where I found out and such in it.

OP: Let's hope so! I'm tired of having money in my pockets, I've been ready to spend for months!

Yeah I was going to pony up some dough for some stuff in the Steam Summer Sale and then Steam did an update yesterday, an update that turned all my installed games that launched on the first click in to games that Steam now thinks have to be treated as first time installed. Which means that whenever I launch one of the games that I've had on my Steam account for two years it now does the first time install non sense but here's the kicker it tries to install EVERY version of the program which means that Borderlands 2 had to install no less than 40 version of dircetx, .net framework, flash player and all the other associated bullshit that comes with it, one game I have decided it had to install 400 fucking different things just to run, a game that the day before launched in 30 seconds now had to go through a half hour install process and right there and then I said you know what fuck it Steam is just awful bloody awful, Valve insist on forcing this turd on us, so I refuse to buy ANY software that results in even a tiny percentage of my cash going to Valve.

I'm sure none of that was intended, i've never had a first time setup take more than a few minutes, and i just started my Borderlands 2 to check it out and it was running within 5 minutes.

Bugs happen, don't take it personally.

Anyway, rumours aside the sales are pretty darn likely to start tomorrow (today here), they're always on a thursday and usually some time around the middle of July. If not this thursday then it'll almost certainly be next week. Personally hoping to pick up a copy of Crusader Kings and it's expansions, it's on GamersGate at the moment for £18 but i can't help but feel it might get a little cheaper on Steam, here's hoping.

Hoping to pick up Mortal Kombat and that's about it. Even if it's not on sale(it's recent) I'll pick it up full price. Not much else I want right now.

Go into your games folder(Steam/steamapps/[your name here]/[game name here]), delete the .vdf files(installscript.vdf).

Seems very plausible to me.

I'm hoping to pick up "The Walking Dead" since I want to jump on the bandwagon now that the DLC was just released.

The midweek madness deals end sooner than usual. That is proof enough to guarantee the summer sale.

Also see how there is no game releases planned in the 11 to 23 time window.

I can't think of much that I want to even buy...sad.I might picked up a few older titles if I see something interesting, but otherwise I'll probably pass on most of the sales.

It's very likely.

I'm pretty sure the precedent is that the sale starts on a Thursday. That's why everyone thought it would have been July 4th, alas it was not.

Looking forward to it, even though I don't have much money to spend. I think I'll get a few games and an absurd amount of indie titles. I have about 300 games, and always get what I want full price if I have to.. soo, maybe I'll do some gifting.

Hmm I'll give that go see what it does.

Indeed but let's not over look the fact that Steam is well over a decade old now, sh*t like this after updates is just unacceptable at this stage, but when you consider that shit like this is almost a bi update occurrence with Steam, no sorry Valve but it's just gotten beyond a joke now.
