I'm worried about what Nintendo will do to USE this new power though. Sure some of the newer games look rather nice and can run smoothly, but I personally find that Nintendo has never used their consoles to the full advantage.

Making a console that beats a 7 year old system is nice. But making games that utilize that power and outclass/outperform the 360 as a system... Now that is a different story

Enter the race looking like what you should have been last gen might just sign the death warrant on nintendo.
You mean the Nintendo that makes a profit instead of taking a loss on each hardware unit sold and has sold mountains of Wiis and DS systems (and has done pretty decently for 3DS sales so far too)? Yeah, they're in their deathbed alright. Another affordable console that they'll make a profit off of from launch day will be the final nail in their coffin.

That, or they'll have to get a bigger indoor swimming pool to accommodate all that new money they'll get. One of the two, you know.

Well, with Nintendo, it's hard to be sure.

However, this would be a large technical leap compared to last gen. The Wii was supposed to be twice as powerful as the GC, and people more technically mindful than I tore that to pieces....So a leap putting it above the 360 might seem newsworthy just because....It's Nintendo.

Though it also makes me wonder. The controller sounds awful expensive from a company that tends to sell hardware for as little a loss (or even possibly profit) as possible. Wonder how much one of those will run.

Good job Nintendo. You'll still be lagging behind in third place as a console powerhouse when the entire next generation lineup finishes.

You know what the great part is? This bastard is gonna sell more than any PS4 or Xbox 720, regardless of whether it ends up being inferior.

At any rate, all of this crap is still just speculation.

i would have to say this all seems a bit fishy, these details especially the stuff about the controller all seem a bit well odd and jumbled especially when you consider how different it sounds from the wiimote.

as for the compaints about power the 360 has hardware from 5 or 6 years ago inside and it has still managed to keep up. its easy to forget how much power is used by layers of operating system and middleware on PC's. That conbined with the optimisation towards gaming that all consolle have would probably make it more powerful than you think, if the specs are right

I don't believe this for a second, and I'm certainly not gonna ***** at Nintendo based on a rumor.

P.S. Thanks

More than a 360

So? I'd be very, very suprised if it wasn't.

Could any tech heads maybe do a comparison of these specs vs the 360
ATI R700 GPU - These are the GPU's found on your ATI 47XX-48XX series cards. One such example would be to look at the best consumer card that falls under this, the 4870. The 4870 is marginally better than a 9800GT, and the 9800GT was popular(as a high-end card) around the 360's release.

So yeah, a little more powerful than a 360's a fair bet.

That being said, there's way too much that hasn't been properly revealed to assess it properly, 512 megs of RAM is pretty shit no matter which way you cut it, most current PC games need more to run than that without frequent loading screens.

Tri-core CPUs were in the 360, good to see it's in the Wii2 also.

This console will not be known for its graphics, I can assure you.

really it just looks like they have made a 360, clock speeds seem to be the only possible differenciating factor.
r600 vs r700 in reguards to cut down heat/power saving console components probably adds to very little improvement

That doesn't really say much, as the 360 has some really fucken old tech.

No way will these specs be real as all of it will be 4 years old already. However the next nintendo will curbstomp the 360 and ps3 without a doubt unless Nintendo are morons. Tech has moved on a long long way since 2005.

Consoles haven't kept up at all, PC's just haven't been pushed. Play crysis 1, a PC game from 2007 and you'll see the truth. It's multiplatform sequel couldn't even top it because of the console roots of the game.

So the question is how much more it can do with the marginal bump then again these specs may be entirely false and we don't actually know the actual version of the cards of the clock speeds of Processor so it could be a little more than marginal also another rumor says IBM is making a custom 3 core processor for it

Interesting. If it has a better game line up, I may take a look. As it stands, I'm happy with my PS3, 360, and the...three Wii games I own.
