Certainly it could be disastrous for the gaming community as likely as it could be a good thing as you stated its all speculation right now. As it stands EA isn't likely to go anywhere anytime soon even with low stock. Companies don't just up and die in the space of a month or two. It often takes several years at least and for anyone following them it'll be painfully obvious.Zachary Amaranth said:This is all speculation, and I understand that a lot of my own comments hinge on the "maybes" and "ifs," but these are very real issues one way or t'other.

If I were at the head of another publisher, all I would be interested in is getting some of EA's more popular IPs and nothing else.
That way you don't get weighted down with all the ugly baggage.
Are you kidding? I want to see the chain-reaction of backlash from when Nexon starts milking AAA titles through EA.Hero in a half shell said:Well here's Nexon's website: http://www.nexon.net/
It comes with the tagline:Oh sweet baby Batman, If they apply the EA franchises to their current business model I predict MICROTRANSACTIONS EVERYWHERE! Forget about feeling bad because of a £15 map pack, you'll be paying through the nose for everything!"The best in free-to-play online games"
All Nexon games are completely free to download and play. The games are regularly updated with new content and are completely supported. Play for free, forever.
This may be a case of better the devil you know than the devil you don't.
I was wondering what would cause that big drop in late August '08.ultramarine486 said:EA has dropped from 50$ a share to 12$ before the rumor got out. Amusingly their stock dropped the same time SPORE was released and we all remember how well that went over. They've pretty much been in decline for the last five years or so and ME3 and The Old Republic really hasn't done much to save them.
They wouldn't do something that silly. If anything, I anticipate them fusing the services and being able to log in to Nexon MMORPGs via the same service you bought/own your PC games on Origin.babinro said:Also I'd hate to see Origin get scraped and my games from there lost because the other company doesn't want to continue the service.
World of Warcraft may be the single MMORPG with the largest userbase in the industry. But Nexon MMORPGs together have a larger userbase number than even World of Warcraft. They're a monster of the MMORPG industry.Biodeamon said:This seems false. I don't believe there's any other gaming comapny bigger or eviller to take over EA.
Seconded.iLazy said:There's a storm brewing, and none of us are prepared. Seriously, I have this nagging feeling that this is going to be bad, real bad.
Sure they haven't really lost much more for a while but short of the last few weeks they've shown almost no sign of growth at all. That's stagnation at it's finest. I honestly think they might have lost even more stock value due to the ME3 backlash if not for the rumor of being bought out.AyaReiko said:I was wondering what would cause that big drop in late August '08.ultramarine486 said:EA has dropped from 50$ a share to 12$ before the rumor got out. Now if only Ubisoft's stock would collapse from constantly pushing ill-advised DRM.
Regardless, EA's stock has largely been stable post-Spore. Wouldn't surprise me if the drop was more of a correction than a near-collapse. EA just has too many franchises in their grasp to outright bottom out.

Exactly what I was thinking the EA brand is not a popular brand its best just to let it die and salvage the bits its hasnt had time to turn into crap yet.veloper said:Why would anyone even want to buy EA?

I thought Satan was head of EA as well? surely its only right for him to want to amalgamate his companies, its less workDaystar Clarion said:So Satan himself decided to take over operations?
Well it was only a matter of time...
