Plus, I'm not sure how Disney handles their relationship with creators. Hasbro let the FiM team get away with a lot, and I dont know if Disney would restrict them more or less.
Marvel hasn't been too shabby over the past few years.

Ponies and Transformers in Kingdom Hearts... I can see it now...
Sora? as a Pony?
Well fuck, any criticism I might have had just went flying out the door as soon as I imagined that Keyblade as his cutie mark.
In all seriousness I'd really like to see what they'd do with these franchises.

First it was Marvel, then Star Wars and possibly this? Which companies that Disney can't buy? Apple, Google and Facebook?

Now I think about it, there is one bad thing to this if it's real. Disney could get rid of the Hub channel in favour of putting the Hasbro shows in their chanel or maybe they still keep the Hub around but just under Disney name.

Hmmm, from what I've seen of Marvel this isn't terrible news.
As long as they don't hold back Transformers Prime and High Moon Studios from doing what they do best then I say go for it!
Hell, maybe we can finally get some better movies after all this time!

I've seen how protective Disney has been with their properties. Compared with Hasbro's task force of lawyers, Disney has a legal team consisting of fifteen battalions. If Disney ever gets the hand of Hasbro and MLP, it won't go well for bronies and fan-created content.
Besides, Disney, you already bought Lucasfilm and Star Wars. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?!?
Utter and complete market dominance of the entertainment industry? It's what most of these conglomerates want. They tend to pick and choose which rivals to either leave alone or turn into a zombified former competitor (i.e. as Microsoft did with Apple) just so they can stand up to lawyers and go "See? It's totally not a monopoly. Totally. It's *so* not a monopoly, Your Honor, that I don't even."

I said before and I'll say it again; we're headed towards a very Cyberpunk future. Two or three huge-ass megacorps, everyone and their mother working for them in one shape or another. The only thing that seems like it won't materialize is a return of the eighties' "zaibatsu lifestyle". We don't hear about company-owned housing, schools or higher ed programs; at least not outside China or Japan.

This could be an opportunity to adapt FiM's show format. I'd like to see story arcs and recurring villains and themes.
Of course, this could also horribly backfire, but I always try to be optimistic.

Disney is terrible when it comes to copyright protection. Fan made projects would be in danger of bein sued to oblivion. People without normal access to Hub shows that can watch them on Youtube because The Hub is great about not takin stuff down would no longer be able to watch it.

There was a great example of how this would be horrible on EQD. They talked about how Disney would bring lots of money for higher production values so that'd be a major plus. They then linked to a video of some new show that Disney funded. It looked beautiful, sure, but anyone across the pond got the message that the video had been blocked by Disney Corp.

If Disney bought out The Hub, you can bet money they'd amp up the copyright defense and tons of things which are totally fine now would be dead.

No one fucks with my ponies, except companies worth billions of dollars who can purchase other companies.

In that case, well shit.

"Really, well then let's buy Hasbro"
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"Of course, we'll start buying up some of the competition and soon we'll be an unstoppable mega corporation. What could go wrong?"

"Sir I just got a call from Microsoft they're saying you have no idea what kind of forces you're dealing with and that we need to stay away from their turf. Then he said something about fire and brimstone and the phone went dead."
The joke there is they are already a Mega-Corp. There just doing all of this for shits and giggles really.

Nay disney, you stay away from my ponies and transformers, you have enough on your plate as it is, you finish your StarWars, then we'll see about dessert.

...Wow, and here I thought my "Disney world conquest" theory was just that...

Well, company conquest, anyway.

Yes this is one of my three issues with Disney buying the company.

The other two being them squashing the fandom's creative peoples. Artists, writers, musicians and computer types. I don't think it would be to big of an issue, but for people profiting off the franchise like plush makers. It may be bad in that way.

The biggest issue is changing the show. No one should be allowed to touch the show but the people who make it. Corporations sticking the finger in the pie spoils it.

I really hope this is just a rumor.

...hmmm I don't really care. I enjoy Transformers but it is what it is, a series of movies/games/cartoons/comics all set on one goal: sell action figures. This is not a criticism, but it's just that the way I see it ANYTHING regarding Transformer is official (as far as the owner of Transformer's rights gives his ok, obviously) and there's no UNIQUE canon, only a series of enclosed universes made to sell out the characters in different media. In other worlds, if Disney buys them great, if Apple buys them it'll be just the same, and so on.

Yeah, its like how had that Mickey and X-men crossover when they bought Marvel... oh wait that never happened because Disney buys companies and gives them a lot of autonomy.

I care about as much for this as I do for other issues of corporate merging, which is not a whole lot.
