Rumour: Half-Life 3 coming in the next few years?

Also, I VERY much doubt it's going to be open world. Then it wouldn't be Half life. Just becuase something isn't open world, doesn't mean it can't be awesome.

My annoymous sources tell me Half-Life 3 will be out in two years time, it will be a DDR style game with Cooking Mama elements and a Combine Zombies mode for online multiplayer.

Not sure which is worse, the fact that someone took the time to make this (rather unconvincing) rumor up, or the fact that the gaming media seems to believe it enough to publish articles on it.

Pfft, given the track record of the "reliable sources" I'd say take a whole bag of it. A lot of the rumours were backed up by somebody "reliable". Observations show that they weren't as reliable as advertised, otherwise HL (Ep) 3. would have been out multiple times already.

Credit where credit's due, though - "after 2013" is more likely to be right than any of the other rumours.

I should clarify that I said president, not tyrannous dictator. Zimbabwe isn't the middle-east; here in Africa, we uphold traditional roman-catholic values. Such as oppressing the gays.
I have 4 wonderful children, and none of them are white. Thank God for that.
And I don't hear people mess up the pronunciation. Why would they? It's read just as it is written.

I lost the need for HL3. Not going to anticipate a single title for the next 10 years. If it comes out, it comes out.

Half-Life 3 is the new Duke Nukem Forever. It wouldn't have been, but someone made the mistake of actually releasing Duke Nukem Forever.

Why yes, I would like to clarify that statement.

It's been slightly under eight years since HL2 came out. We are coming up on the five-year anniversary of when the orange box came out with HL2 Episode 2. New IPs have been born and have gotten a sequel. Franchises have started and finished since HL 2 came out.

Whatever innovation that they designed for Half-Life 3 has long since become obsolete, so they're going to have to innovate again. Innovating an fps from half a decade ago takes years, so whatever they create has to be binned again. Then they start anew even further behind and the vicious cycle just gets more depressing.

And the longer they wait, the more people will expect from their game. We're not quite at this point yet, but soon the joke will be better than what the joke is about. It's like that point when Elvis was fat and living in an apartment, eating chicken on the toilet. He's not dead yet, but would you really enjoy his comeback tour?

Huh... that was slightly depressing. Anyway, don't even wait for HL 3 anymore.
