I don't run.

I do martial arts. But not with much consistency.

And I'm not fat, though I gained a lot of weight suddenly 2 years ago.

Even so, going by BMI (which is nonsense, but whatever), even with that sudden gain of 5 kilos, I have a BMI of about 20 or 21.

(I'm 187cm, and hover around 74-75 kilos. That's 6'3", 165 pounds. I was under 150 pounds.)

So, yeah. Not exercising doesn't automatically make you fat. Neither does eating junk food.

Honestly, it's just not that simple.

I'm slightly weary of Runners, they always seem to be the ones that find bodies...

nah i run regularly, nothing wrong with keeping fit. i held my school record for the 100M sprint and my team held the record for fastest session. Now i just do it to stay healthy. when the zombie apocalypse happens i either need to have good stamina or at least be faster then others.

I'm just coasting on my high metabolism at the moment... I'm still stupidly lanky when i'm eating wayyyyy too many sweets... Does a mile walk back from college every 3 days count as a workout?

I don't run much. I get my exercise from weapons practice mostly. There is no formal sword arts training around here (no fencing, kendo, or anything), so I have to self-teach myself and use internet videos. Tis much funner to whack your friend with a stick for exercise than it is to just run.

I don't run much anymore, but I used to do a lot of distance running. 4-8 miles a day. Much more of a jog than a run though. I'd estimate about a 9-10 minute mile. As for running music, a lot of fast paced classic rock/metal.

No no no no, see...I'm a distance man, and by that I mean measurable in miles. You don't run those, especially in the ever-so-hilly Pennsylvania area. You walk and ration your stamina, or you burn out quickly.

I ran Cross Country for 3 years in high school. After which I've slowly deteriorated from best shape of my life to severely out of shape but still skinny. Been thinking of getting back into that whole exercise thing again.

I don't run, I can, just not very well.

I plan to get a treadmill sometime soon. Honestly, the thing about running that turns me off most is outside; too many allergens, too many people.

I feel like that is somewhat out of place being on a gamer site and most gamers being fat bastards (be honest). But as always,i'm curious.Soooooo who here runs? Why do you run? how far? how fast? how often? I run about 21 miles a week at around a high 8,low 9 min per mile pace. My max per mile is somewhere in the high 7s. And i run, well because I'm vain and like the way it make my body look. That and i used to be fat. Oh and whats your running music. For me its Iron maiden,Dragon force and early metallica with a sprinkling of rap and classic rock. How answer my damned questions.
Hate running, but I have personal training every week and my trainer makes me run around the block as a warm up.

Given my own choice, I'll avoid running. I prefer brisk walks or taking classes at my gym. I did quite a bit of cycling/RPM stuff, yoga, and weights before I got struck down by illness about three weeks ago. God I feel so unfit now.
I used to hate it the thought of running actually scared me a little because it would expose how hideously out of shape i was, that and well its hurt like hell( side stiches and feet as flat as duck) but now its the most natural thing in the world. It feels right.

I do around 3 miles a week (in one session) with my school's cross country, don't sound like much but we're all slap bang in the middle of teenager...ness, so it hurts pretty damn bad. Don't use music yet, but I would if I went on my own, probably the new MCR album, wolfmother, Muse) or Mogwai, something epic.

There is a forest near my house that I like to run in. In the summer I usually run everyday, but not so much in the winter. I go decently fast I suppose, but I don't have times or anything. Generally I run for 45min-1 hour when I run. Oh and I don't run with music, I like just listening to whats around me.

Incidentially, most gamers are certainly not fat bastards.
In an English speaking forum it's not unlikely given that most English speaking countries are facing obesity problems. I believe people who were overweight were the biggest category in the last informal poll here. Also the most numerous.

I don't run because my heart sucks and it gives me this burning feeling in my lungs. Also I can't deal with the impact on my knees.

I'm slim and practice tae-kwon-do, and ladies seem to love me.

Except, there's one problem.

I can't run for shit. I can do half an hour on a cross-trainer, but when it actually comes to running...dear God, I'd be fucked in the zombie apocalypse. I'd make it halfway down the street and get tired.

Running does not equate to not being fat :(

I ran cross-country in high-school. That shit gets brutal in the summer.

I think my fastest mile-time was five minutes flat, if I recall. My best 5K was just under 17 minutes.
