But to parody comedy is to take on it's desire to be funny. This, to many of us, was not.

So our points still stand. As it's our subjective opinion.
You didn't find it funny like Bush and the GOP didn't find the Colbert White House Correspondents Dinner funny.

Maybe "they bother" because it gets you riled up.
Where does your need for us to like this come from. Most people on these forums aren't fanboys.

I didn't think he parodied Yahtzee very well. As he didn't copy the style and intelligently pick it apart. Instead he made a week copy. I say week because in my opinion it wasn't funny.

If someone wants to make a parody thats fine. Nothing is beyond parody or mockery. I believe we should all be able laugh at ourselves.

I don't believe we need to be told what to laugh at by a stranger on the internet panfist.

Parodying something that was meant to be funny in the first place doesn't parody, it emulates. In this case badly. Youtube is packed with ZP rip-offs and wannabe's, all pretty much failing miserably.

In order to assist those of you fellas who seem to be confused by the concept I took the liberty to take out a piece from a Thesaurus:

Parody
Definition: To copy (the manner or expression of another), especially in an exaggerated or mocking way.
A Thesaurus gives alternatives of words, a Dictionary defines them, such as;

id·i·ot /ˈɪdiət/Show Spelled Pronunciation[id-ee-uht]
?noun
1. an utterly foolish or senseless person.
2. Psychology. a person of the lowest order in a former classification of mental retardation, having a mental age of less than three years old and an intelligence quotient under 25.

I don't know if it was funny or not because I only understood about 5 words of it... the artwork wasn't inspiring at all though so I couldnt even get the message from that

As an englishman, I now wish to chop off my ears to avoid pillocks like that attempting to speak English correctly.

And I don't mind parodys of ZP (like that guy who did one of Yahtzee's games the week he was off), but if your going to parody it, make an effort - I couldn't even understand what he was saying.

Ok Some Punctuation: the guy doesn't talk as fast but he excuses himself for it.

SA Parody: The guy's accent isn't exactly the same as yahtzee's, but he excuses himself for it, and his terrible accent is actually funny!

The point of a parody isn't to make a review of a video game in the style of yahtzee, and make it as good as one of yahtzee's originals; the point of a parody IS TO MAKE FUN OF YAHTZEE! And in that mission, this video does pretty well. So what if he repeats a similar joke two or three times? Yahtzee repeats the same kind of similar jokes every week, and we're still coming back for more...whoosh there's the sound of parody going right over your heads!

To all of the haters, try to take your lips off yahtzee's dick, please. He doesn't need you to defend him from parody. In fact, your reaction just proves that this parody succeeded. Let's see you make something better.

No disrespect to yahtzee of course...
And so since we think a shit video is shit, we all must logically have erotic fantasies about Yahtzee coming to our house without pants*. That's some logic you got there.

*WARNING, EXAGGERATION!

Make no mistake, I don't give a goddamn about Yahtzee, this just wasn't funny.

It'd be like if I put up a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger and then said three German words over and over again while constantly repeating, "I'm doing a bad fake accent!" It wouldn't be funny, it would be dumb.

A good parody contains (usually) some jokes or something. Most people agree that good jokes are funny. Maybe they could even be jokes which are relevant to the subject which is being lampooned, you know? And this is all off the top of my head.

It was very poorly done. Needed more content. I kind of liked the mispronouncing or muhmorpurger because it reminded me of Stephen Colbert pronouncing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad differently every time, but this parody didn't have anything of it's own.

That was funny, but for the full effect you really need to go read the article it came from [http://www.somethingawful.com/d/mmo-roulette/gunz.php?page=1]. It's a parody of ZP, yes, but without seeing it in context you miss the whole point (which is how awful GunZ Online is). I suspect most people that like ZP would also like MMO Roulette [http://www.somethingawful.com/d/mmo-roulette/].

We're very proud of the fact that we've been the Awful Site of the Day both for The Escapist [http://www.somethingawful.com/d/awful-links/awful-link-3468.php] and Zero Punctuation [http://www.somethingawful.com/d/awful-links/zero-punctuation-yahtzee.php].

You realize by posting here we are in risk of being featured in an article? Nothing is safe from SA Goons, not even SA.

Who cares? People here are mostly mature and should be able to laugh at themselves if they do decide to make an article, or at least dismiss it.

You know what they say, "Sticks and stones.."

Ahhhhhh, that makes -alot- more sense in the context of the article! The YouTube version robs it of the actual joke side of things.

I found the accent really forced (it gets annoying fast), and I found the jokes pretty bad. Instead of a "LOL, that's so true!" you're 'sposed to get from a parody, I ended up getting a "Oh, right. Next please" I just didn't find it funny.

I don't know. I kind of liked it. It wasn't great or anything, but it's Something Awful. They believe a ménage à trois is something the French spread on toast. I don't think there's much more that needs to be said about it.

Yeah, but the thing there is, the first time we were getting bashed for the reason of being "hip, but full of fail". I honestly cannot see that. The second, ZP was getting lauded.

In relation to the parody, I'd give it a B for effort, and a flat out FAIL for content. While the MUMORPUGE thing was funny, the rest just sucked. I honestly like the MMO Roulette videos when they show footage from said MMO and watching the SA goons just rip it to pieces. Sorry, Khad, but it just didn't measure up. Listening to him fake a British accent that badly however was pretty damn funny. I couldn't do a British accent that badly if I practised for weeks.

I think this parody did its job in being what it's supposed to be, namely a parody, it just sucks as a parody. In other words, it fulfills the definition of being a parody, then just cocks it up. It's like saying a 50% in a class is a pass, but it's still a shitty grade.

I honestly think that when I did a ZP style video for my English class project on a Stephen King novel, I did a better job. I think that the 95% grade on said project speaks to that.
