Mona's death. The music, the images, Payne's monologue...A tear ran down my face. I even went outside and thought about the ending. "I had a dream of my wife. She was dead. But it was all right." If the third game reaches the same level of depth and emotionality of the first two games, I will bow down to Rockstar.

At the end of the game when Eli dies. I found that quite sad as the screen faded to black with Alyx crying.

Donut when Washington shot him in the head. I want that freelancer dead!

Dude the way the show is going trust me they will some how bring him back or act like he never died.

I'm gonna say Donut is gone for good. Burnie gave an interview saying so and I think that Dan may have left the company. He hasn't been in any comics or videos and he hasn't logged into his profile in almost a year.

OT: I can't really think of a in-game example right now but something that was really sad for me was

At the very end when the Bolivian Army more than likely just fills the two of them with bullets. It was just sad how they went through so much and still went out fighting

. Incredibly well done with the best voice acting ever, atmospheric music and location...everything about it was perfectly sad and depressing.

That scene is heartbreaking, I was literally shocked speechless, followed by feeling intense anger at Paulie and Shrote. I am in violent agreement with you there Reaper195

Oh my god... how could I have forgotten about that one... -.-
That moment just purges sadness and agony, but at least in the end...

They are re-united for a brief moment to say their goodbyes...

I recently played Infinite Undiscovery and found the death of the main character's close friends a bit unsettling, especially at how the main character has to fight enemies he can't directly fight and they both die right in front of him just inches away.

no ive never connected with a character who died
the mass effect games allowed me to connect with some of them but i hated Ashley and kaiden and Wrex almost always survives
the second one's deaths were a joke
if anyone died on your game you suck at games its just too easy

in ME3 i want it to be hard to keep everyone alive
sure i like the characters but some stories demand things and mass effect DEMANDS a tear jerking death of a beloved character

i can give you a tearjerking death from a movie but that is beside the point

Well I have to say

Spoiler: Saint's Row 2

When that ***** Jessica kidnapped Carolus and drug him behind a track. By the time I got to him and saw the extent of the damage; but seeing Boss try to free him from the chains then realize it was better to put him out of his misery while she(yes I made a she) held his hand and pulled the trigger was killer. What really made it worse was seeing his hand slip from hers and the look on her face. A mix of anger and sadness, Jessica had to die at that point.

When Maes Hughes was killed by Envy when he shape shifted into Hughes's wife and shot him, all because Hughes was trying to warn Roy Mustang of what was really going on in the government. What made it worse was when his daughter at Hughes's funeral was having a hard time understanding that her father was dead. I cried like a baby at the end of that.

Umm...I was damn near inconsolable when Lord Lothar died in Warcraft II. I mean, he was right there on my Windows 3.1 screen...and he fought to the bitter end and I couldn't do anything but watch him die...sons of bitches...

( special mention for FF 9, ok she didnt actually died, but you sure lost one of the cutest
characters in a FF game ever!)
