Saddest deaths in videogames

I know this has been seen a lot on different forums but I wanna see what people think the saddest death scenes in videogames are. Mine would either be aeris in ff7 or rikiya in yakuza 3. Aeris because she was one of your strongest defensive characters and had great spells that helped you and suppressed the enemy plus she was a love interest for cloud but it got cut short by sephiroth before anything could happen. And now for Rikiya in yakuza 3. This is definitely at the top of the saddest moments in video game history. You meet this guy at the beginning of the game. He works for a local yakuza family and tries to beat up kazuma for something. But later you team up with his family and become really good friends with him, his boss, and his friend mikyo.
****************************************SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOLIERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILER***************************************************By the end of the game you go and try to rescue rikiya's boss from a bullring on the outskirts of Okinawa. After a lengthy fight between you and the head of the tamashiro family members a cutscenes occurs with kazuma talking to rikiya and rikiya's boss seeing if rikiya's boss was alright. What they didn't notice was tamashiro was still conscious and was about to shoot Kazuma. Rikiya saw this and blocked the shot... With himself. The bullet went reigns through his heart and in his dying moments he said he finally became a man and he died for something. It made me almost come to tears and the main character a tough, deep voiced, Japanese, former yakuza member cry.

So what do you think can top that in sadness?

I'm not sure, but Unreal 2 still makes me very sad

It's sort of like Mass Effect, as in you're a space soldier and you have your crew and such. You even spend time on the ship between missions which are just the old school "Go kill ugly aliens, get items, repeat". And then, towards the end, your ship gets blown up in front of your eyes, more or less, with the. Later you find out that they purposefully sacrificed themselves for you because they found out the bad guy was actually one of the other "allies" you presumably had in the military. You eventually find their last words to you

I'm sorry. I...I have something in my eye. Must be the rain.

Well...

Mass Effect 3 (Everyone's favorite game): Mordin, Thane, Legion. These were some of my favorite characters in Mass Effect 2 and by the time they met their respective destinies in Mass Effect 3, they had grown significantly as characters. The one that hit me the hardest was actually Javik. When I gave the paragon response to him about the Echo Shard he relived a horrible past that he would just as soon forget. By the end of the game, broken by the horrors of war, and realizing he had no place in a world of peace, Javik decided to end his life. It really hit home considering that I have family members in the military. I had heard that soldiers don't come back from wars the same, but this really hammered that point home.

Do we really need spoiler tags in a "saddest deaths" thread?
Just don't make fun of the graphics:

EDIT - *fine*, spoiler tags and cake for everybody.

That would be the death in Valkyria Chronicles, if you've played it you know what I mean.
I mean for god sakes, that was harsh.

Cortana's death was so well done; I know many gamers who started crying manly tears.

Actually, I felt
Duck's death was sadder, because there was this weird warmness during Lee's final moments. Seeing Kenny sobbing like that was just... TT_TT

Just a thing, you guys might wanna mention what game it is before the spoiler tags so people wont have to guess. Ive already played Mass Effect so it doesnt effect me, but for someone else it might.

I'd have to say (Metal Gear Solid 4 spoilers)
Big Boss's death, and Snake's future death (I know he didnt die in game, but he will die soon, and thats really sad, especially considering what happened to him for most of his life)

Also in Assassins Creed Revelations
Altair's death scene. It was especially bad since all of his sequences are great and you get so attached to him

And in Mass Effect 3
Every death with the exception of The Illusive Man, Kai "Asshole" Leng, Ashley/Kaidan and Udina.

And in Arkham City
The Joker, I just cant believe it actually happened

Not the saddest death but one that really enraged me at the person who did it. Far Cry III
Sam getting killed by Hoyt. You sonofabitch, he was my bro.

I gotta say one that hit me as particularly depressing was...

The death of the fake playable character at the start of Fate/extra particularly his dieing resignation and call for someone.. anyone! to remember his name.. but nobody will not even the player as he'd never given one. It was a very deep stabbing fist to the feels and motivates you to try a little harder in the next fight. (which in and of itself makes you cringe when what happens next well happens.. don't wanna spoil more.)
