The saddest death for me would probably be in Sonic 2006. Holy hell. The death of Sonic there was just so moving.... it was probably the first time in my life I ever cried....

*ahem*
All sarcasm aside...

Honestly, the saddest death I can recall would be from Borderlands 2:

GODDAMMIT JACK, why'd you have to kill Bloodwing? Mordecai was my guy in BL1, and Bloodwing was so badass. It's compounded by the fact that I saw it coming from the start of that fight, the whole "I forgot one... hm...." thing, but I couldn't stop it. At all. Whenever I started to feel ANY remorse for Jack, I instantly remembered Bloodwing and got in such a goddamn rage it's not even funny.

As an aside, I never really understood the depression caused by Aeris' death. Most of the characters in battle seemed fairly generic at the time (aside from limit breaks), so the loss of a battle companion wasn't too upsetting, and she never seemed so much of a character as a likable plot-device. From what I've ever seen, unless you take the romance with her, she never evolves past the whole "last of her kind" thing, and that only gets you so far; I can't really relate with one-dimensional characters that well. Not to mention the whole "you kill her yourself" thing was horribly executed (was bad here, was bad in AC:B. Honestly, while usually I'd rather do things myself than see them in cutscenes, this is the one exception).

Find and rescue Sif in the Abyss. Summon his help to fight Manus. Finish DLC. Go back to original timeline.
Fight Sif at Artorias' grave.
Cry.
Cry forever.

Before I start, I need some appropriate music:

Now, the saddest deaths for me were:

Walter's death.

He's been with you since the beginning, and he always offered you support. He's like a father to you. He then gets possessed by the thing he fears most, and the Crawler forces him to attack you, mocking and taunting both you and Walter in Walter's voice. To make matters worse, if you hesitate to attack, Walter momentarily gains control of himself and begs you to kill him so that he may be free of the Darkness.

When I first finished Fable 3, that really hit me hard, and I would have started bawling then and there if no one was around. There was some people though, so I had to hold off until I went to bed, where I let loose.

The good endings.
Dammit BioShock, stop getting so much stuff in my eyes!

Soap.

Motherfuckin' Soap. He's indestructible! He's an utter badass! He's the hero of the Modern Warfare series!

You've got your trap set for Makarov, you're gonna get him, fist pumps and pounds for everyone!

... except he knew you were coming. He knew exactly where you were going to be. He kills off one of your buddies from MW1, and starts setting off explosives to kill you and your men, but not before revealing that you once were his ally. Before Soap can fully process this new information, the charges go off where the two of you are, but before you can be engulfed in the blast, Soap shoves you out of the window, and he himself is thrown out by the blast. The fall rips open his wounds from the end of MW2, and creates new ones. You and Price rush him to get help, but his wounds are far to extensive, and he's too far gone. In his last moments, he informs Price that you know Makarov, believing that you are a traitor.

lee's death at the end fuck man I cried
That was the first game to ever make my eyes well up. Ever. I have played a lot of games, most of the ones often listed in "games that made you cry" threads. I was shocked somebody managed to pull it off on me honestly.

Gonna have to go with
Dom from Gears 3, his death hit me like a truck full of bricks, and dat song... I sat there on my couch, jaw on the floor and slowly drowning from all of the feels and tears. ALL OF THE FEELS DAMMIT!

Also Yukiko in Persona 4, well she doesn't actually die but I failed to save her by a day so I had to reload from earlier that day and redo like half the dungeon. But I felt so utterly disappointed and shitty because I let her die

The ending to Crisis Core. I already knew what was going to happen, and I still teared up.
Si mi amigo that also almost made me cry( and I almost never do that unless it's something that heart shattering.) I know it's a bunch of polygons but they try their hardest to get you to cry.

Most of the ones I was going to mention have been put here already, so I'll just introduce a new one:

Cole, from the inFamous series. I really love those games and dive deep into the world, so having Cole die at the end of the second game, after I spent so long turning him into the perfect super-hero, was a real blow. I liked him...

I just

I just couldn't stop dem tears.
I don't know why but this didn't make me cry. Don't get me wrong, it was extremely emotional for me, but I didn't cry and I felt like I should have. Maybe I'm just completely jaded :(

*sniff* Now if you'll excuse me, I have a *sniff* previous engagement *bites finger off*
This was a great and confusing scene for me. Out of all the characters that died, he was probably the one I knew the least well. Yet that death scene was the most emotional for me out of all of them. And I can't exactly place why.

Actually that's not entirely true, my real most emotional death scene was kind of a fluke so I didn't count it:
At the end of ME3 I was running towards the beam with Garrus and Liara, when suddenly Harbinger's laser knocks over a Mako and crushes them both. My 2 favorite characters, who I genuinely cared for, died for what seemed to be no reason ;(

Stupid me and my low EMS.

A number of deaths in ME3. I swear if they had ended the game with either a few of the character death scenes there would be nothing bad to say about those games.

Also, In final fantasy 3 for SNES when Kefka betrays everyone and invades a town, I remember losing my mind at the thought that Shadow's dog had died. I think my parents thought I was insane.

I would say for me Tidus in FF10 not sure if it will count given how he was not alive and he sort of vanished more than died.

FF9 Alexander puts up an awesome fight save's the city then KABOOM blown apart.

I know this has been seen a lot on different forums but I wanna see what people think the saddest death scenes in videogames are. Mine would either be aeris in ff7 or rikiya in yakuza 3. Aeris because she was one of your strongest defensive characters and had great spells that helped you and suppressed the enemy plus she was a love interest for cloud but it got cut short by sephiroth before anything could happen.
Although I would also go with Aeris/Aerith as the saddest death in gaming history, there is an interesting note I'd like to point out.

Evidence suggests that Aeris was not killed by Sephiroth, she was stabbed yes...which likely would have resulted in eventual death, however she would not have died to such an injury right away. She was likely paralyzed from the waist down (hence her slumping over) and then gone unconscious. Cloud likely buried her alive and she probably drown as her final cause of death. Just FYI :)
