I don't remember a sad moment off the top of my head, but I remember the moment in Saint's Row 2 when

You captured that one guy's girlfriend and put her in the trunk of a car and somehow got the car into the arena where she was crushed by her own boyfriend's monster truck. It actually made me sit back from the monitor a moment. It was pretty fucked up cause she was screaming and stuff just before she got crushed.

Benjamin Carmine's death had me all teary eyed and Noble 6's heroic death was pretty saddening but I think all of heavy rain was the saddest thing ever apart from a couple of the endings...

The main character dies of exhaustion after learning the meaning of life.

1. Nanako's death
2. The train ride back home after the real ending. Teddie's monologue was a killer, too.

John dies. Now you have to play the rest of the game as his son! Enjoy! :3

And the Portal 2 ending.
the portal 2 ending was beautiful.
translate the turret opera, from italian to english, and it reveals a whole new layer. im italian, i was translating on the spot, and a lone tear rolled down my face when i learned what it means.

When the little boy dies at the beginning of Mass Effect 3... I cried for half an hour and had to call my best friend for emotional support. I will never forget the nameless boy.
That was when I become emotionally involved in ME3. That scene made me so damn sad, and the constant flashbacks pulled me into the experience. Say what you want about the endings, but the build up was phenomenal.
the music, though, is what got me. the sound of those pianos with the sudden brass that represented the reapers shattering the peace was so phenomenally put together, it will probably be remembered as the best choreographed sad song in this gaming generation, even without vocals. what it represented spoke better than any person could.

The ending of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days puts the ending of the first game to shame.

You have to fight and kill poor Xion who's now following her original "programming" and turns to crystal and disintegrates in Roxas's arms as she tells you just how much your friendship meant to her. To twist the guilt in even further, not only does she just die, all of the memories of her die along with her, (long story) so Roxas and Axel, her only friends who swore to remember their friendship, will forget she even existed at all. She ceases to exist in the truest definition of the word and the only one who will remember her is the player.

God damn...

Metal Gear Solid 3's ending. I cried throughout the entire end sequence. I mean, seriously, they *made you press the button.* They did. And it was *so sad.* I get little shivers of despair just remembering it.

Nier's ending, holy cow. After the second-to-last boss fight, it was tears all the way through the end of the credits. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen.
Which one of Nier's endings? They all tore me up inside, but Ending C when

Nier kills Kaine to free her from her possession after they both realized they loved each other. And just before Tyrann vanishes, she tells Nier that Kaine's last message was "Thank You."

was something else.

Birth By Sleep had a pretty harsh ending as well. You knew it was coming, but still...damn

I'm going to remind you all of a Nintendo 64 classic.
Conker's Bad Fur Day. The bright, colorful environments, random misadventures, and outrageous humor leave you totally unprepared and completely vulnerable to the game's rather depressing ending. Berri, the Panther King, and the Professor are all killed (in completely unrelated ways almost at the same time) in front of Conker, before he kills the xenomorph. What makes things worse is that, when he had the chance to bring Berri back to life, he completely forgot to, while in the hype of taking down the enemy before him. He is then left in the old castle, surrounded by his new subjects... every one of which he hates.

It also gets really sad when one of your squad members dies in a Fire Emblem game... and it's pretty much your own fault, too.

Yeah, I totally agree with that.

Despite my distaste for the ME3 endings, the extended cut did manage to get to me. If you romanced Tali and bring her along for the final mission, she and whoever else you have gets wounded and Shepard calls for evac from the Normandy. As she's being taken aboard the ship, she begs you not to leave her behind. You tell her to go back to Rannoch, and build a home for herself. Her response?

"I have a home. Come back to me..."

Gah! Can't...stop...the emotions...!!

Odd, I thought someone would've mentioned Batman: Arkham City's credits by now. I am not a particular fan of Batman and have very little knowledge of the universe, but listening to the song sung during the credits choked me up a bit

Move the timeline to 2:20 for it to start. I'm guessing that, out of context, it might not have the same impact it did listening to it after completing the game.

While I can't say that I've cried when Aeris from FFVII died, heck, I even knew about it LONG before I played the game, I still felt genuinely sad.

There's also Valkyria Chronicles:

When Isara dies. Right after the moment when Rosie finally overcomes her dislike of darcsens in order to become friends with her. The scene where she sings at her grave pretty much made me lose it.

Also Klonoa:

When Huepow reveals that Klonoa wasn't actually a part of the world he is in, that all the memories of them together were fabricated, and that Klonoa would be sent away when Lephise would sing the Song of Rebirth. And despite knowing all of that, Huepow still tries to stop Klonoa from being sucked into the vortex that takes him home. Very heart wrenching to watch.

EDIT: Oh! And I forgot to mention Shadow of the Colossus!

When Agro supposedly died saving Wander from falling down the cliff before the final colossus, and of course the ending.

Persona 3 FES's second campaign, "The Answer"

When Yukari
breaks down to her knees when she realizes only Agis can decide whether to go back in time to before the Persona 3 protagonist sacrificed himself or to return to the present (It's a long story). She just collapses to her knees and begs Agis through sobs to let her see the protagonist again, while having been up to that point stoic and determined. Maybe it's because I chose Yukari as my main love interest, but that scene nearly made me shed a tear. It was extremely moving

Some of the voice acting in that game is just phenomenal, and Yukari was a very good example of that.
