"Not really," she half-lied. In the back of her mind she was wondering why the man persisted with such a chain of questions... Did Mister Oneirius already know and let the staff know too?

"I mean, I might've had a bit of food at the party, but that's all. And I hadn't really had anything before then anyway, seen as I had..." She forced herself to stop talking there, making a new semi-true ending to what she had been saying that would hopefully prompt fewer questions, "I'd had sweets before, so I didn't eat too much after that for a while then at the party I had some more food than usual, but that's it."

"I see," Doctor Mamali said as he took a few more notes on his clipboard. He gave no real indication of whether he was any closer to figuring out what was wrong with the lamia, instead asking, "And have you been under a lot of stress lately? Bully troubles, relationship problems, things like that?"

"Maybe we shouldn't head back until we can be sure she's okay," Rochelle said. "I mean, I don't even know why she threw up or passed out. Might just be something she ate last night..." She trailed off, realising what that could actually mean in Lillith's case. Who knows what she might have eaten. That thought was certainly sobering.

Rochelle remembered the vomit on the floor of the library. Something in it had looked alarmingly like a feather... She put it out of her mind, but resolved to ask Lilli about her eating habits sometime later.

jeffery listened in to the conversation between sven and rochelle as soon as he heard he was referred to, feeling a little bad about how he shut himself off from the rest of them, his expression did`nt change as he let out a small sigh, realizing he was`nt actually needed here anymore what with there being doctors, sven and rochelle here he rose from his chair and slipped his book into the inside pocket of his jacket he turned to walk away before stopping dead in his tracks and turning to rochelle.

"oh I almost forgot, the name`s jeff, sorry about not telling you earlier" jeffery said quickly before turning back around and heading for the exit, stepping outside into the cold afternoon air, making his way for the library.

She turned her eyes down. Her mind hadn't gone back to it just yet, thinking that she had adequately dealt with it, but what if that had caused whatever this was? "A bit... But it's something I dealt with. I hadn't really thought about it since this morning."

For a moment she waited for a response before sitting forwards slightly and speaking, "So... do you actually have any idea what's wrong with me?"

"I have a few ideas," Dr. Mamali said before materializing a tongue depressor seemingly out of thin air. "Of course, I do want to look at a few things, just to be sure."
____________________

After a breif examination, Dr. Mamali admitted, "This is strange. I'm not a psychologist, but it might be safe to say you haven't dealt with your "issue" as well as you thought. Otherwise, you seem physically fine." The doctor opened a drawer and pulled out a small bottle of a greenish liquid. Giving it to Lillith, he continued, "This should help with your stomachache. Take one spoonful every six hours."

"Um..." With a mild curiosity Lillith swished the liquid around it's container. Whatever she was looking for it to do, she didn't find it; It was a boring and dull sort of medicine without even a hint of magic to it's credit and, as with the majority of things, quickly found it's way into a pocket. "Okay, [small]I guess...[/small]"

Now that it was a little while later she was confident that her tail would be reacting to her commands. And it did, albeit rather sluggishly. It unwound from the chair and she slithered into a standing pose, making sure to keep her hands on the chair to help her balance. She could move but falling over again was a distinct possibility.

She slithered over to the door, reaching to the nearest solid object each time to help her balance, and left into the reception.

This information was not new to her. She was 'physically fine'; a sugarcoated way to tell her that which she already knew. Already she knew that she had more problems to deal with but at least she thought she'd dealt with him. No, the doctor had to be wrong. She was over that. But if it wasn't that it would be something else. She had countless things to choose from, things she had yet to continue thinking about... More likely than not the therapy sessions would be exploring such avenues. She could leave this all as speculation for now...

Sven wondered for a moment what had sparked Jeffrey to introduce himself seemingly out of the blue before he noticed Lillith slithering into the reception area. "You need any help?" he asked as he stood up and approached the lamia, who seemed to struggle to stay upright.

Lillith hadn't really expected the two of them to still be here but that didn't make her any less glad that they were. She answered Sven with a nod and, as he helped her stand a bit more solidly, uttered her thanks. Again she had to lean in slightly to stand, but it didn't look like he minded a great deal.

Written upwards of 2000 words for Lillith's nightmares that it is entirely possible that no-one will ever read due to how violent they are and how much of it is useless/outdated draft work, and I still haven't finished what I was writing. =|

...My brain hurts.

"So, how'd it go? Did he figure out what was wrong with you?" Sven asked as he guided Lillith back to the elevator. Of course, the fact that Lillith only needed to lean on Sven a little (a fact which pleased Sven to no end) seemed to suggest that her condition was improving, doctor's help or otherwise. Still, he figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

"Sort of. He gave me some stuff to think about." She knew that wasn't really an answer, but the doctor hadn't really sold the idea that he was the subject of her illness to her. And even if he was, how was she expected to make them believe that just trying to shut him out was able to make her throw up and fall unconscious? It sounded stupid just as she tried to convince herself of it, but hopefully her therapist wouldn't think it was.

"But he gave me some medicine too, so I should be better from now on."

"Well, that's good to know," Rochelle said, having followed Sven and Lillith away from the medical center, walking on Lillith's other side. "Um, Lilli... would you mind if I had a word with you sometime today? Preferably in private?" She figured her observation of the featherlike object merited a little privacy, rather than being a subject to be discussed openly.

"Okay," Lillith nodded, though she was unsure of what Rochelle would need to talk about in secrecy. "As soon as we get to my room, we'll talk."

Sven wondered to himself what Rochelle wanted to tell Lillith that she didn't want Sven present for, but wasn't entirely sure he wanted to know, either. Well, it's not like its any of my business anyway, he thought as the group arrived at the elevator. "Where is your room, anyways?" he asked Lillith.

She used her free hand to press the button for the third floor. "I'm pretty sure it's 357." Lillith hoped she'd remembered to make it somewhat hospitable for some friends before she last left. Though, with everything that had been on her mind, she wouldn't be surprised to see that she hadn't.

Sven nodded but otherwise couldn't think of anything else to say. When the elevator arrived at Lillith's floor, Sven guided her to her room before saying, "Well, I'll be heading back to the library. See you two later," before heading back, leaving Lillith and Rochelle alone to talk.

"All right, see you," Rochelle said, giving Sven a wave before closing the door and turning to Lillith. She took a deep breath, quickly deciding what to say before she spoke. "Um... I'm not exactly sure how best to put this, Lilli, but I saw something in your vomit. It looked like a feather..." She rustled her wings a little and shifted her weight, unnerved by her memory of the sight. "Again, I'm not sure how best to word this, but what have you eaten recently?"

As she had entered the room Lillith had been calm but, as Rochelle's questioned, the Lamia shrank noticeably. She had wanted a distraction from this incident, not a reminder.

Her mind was already at work to produce a functioning lie, something that was credible and non-repulsive... However, how does a feather get into someone's vomit without them eating something with feathers? This was probably the worry that had made Rochelle need to say this in private...

"Well... um..." Lillith's eyes turned to the floor, with her left arm holding her right, [small]"I can't tell you..."[/small]

"Lilli, I'm sorry if this isn't what you want to hear, but... I'm concerned. I care about you as I would anyone else, and I want to make sure you're all right," Rochelle said, gently resting one hand on her shoulder. "Please... you can tell me. I'm here for you."

The angel's initial suspicion had been something simple, like maybe a bird that had flown into her room, but Lillith's refusal implied that it was a little more than a sparrow. That supposition made Rochelle slightly nauseous, one particular idea surfacing in her mind.

Her eyes went up towards Rochelle's face for a moment, taking in a bit of that look... That look, which felt to the Lamia like it radiated warmth and comfort, before her eyes levelled once more with the ground.

She couldn't imagine that her friend had a single drop of anger in her and perhaps Rochelle would sympathise with the Lamia's instincts even without understanding them but... she couldn't take that chance. It was already bad enough that Rochelle had been able to follow along with Lillith's mistakes this far.

What the hell could she say? 'Oh, I devoured the love of my life. I've been vomiting up bits of him and dumping them in the lake ever since I arrived. I didn't want to say anything in case I did the same with you'? No words would ever be right because the actions themselves were so tainted in wrongness.

She wished she was a better liar; she wished she'd never had to come here; she wished that she'd just stayed home like every other Lamia and lived in a cave until she died. In fact, no, she wished she'd never been a Lamia. If she'd been something else like an angel or a harpy or a muse, she'd have none of that pain or instinct and she could be a friend for people rather than a burden... If anything could change her and remove that instinct, she'd take it no matter what else she had to give up.

"I want to tell you, Rochelle. There's no-one I'd trust more right now but... I can't. [small]Ever...[/small]"
