So I got some Christmas money and I'm not sure which of these two I should get. I only have enough for one. I want Skyrim because it won GOTY (I'm not keen on Bethesda games like Fallout, never played Oblivion.) but I also want Saints Row as it looks ridiculously fun.

Thoughts?

If you're not keen on Oblivion or Fallout then Skyrim may not be for you - there's not that much scope for mucking about.

Saint's Row 3 is hilarious and exciting for the first 10 or 20 hours, then gets a bit stale.

Depends what you fancy: serious adventure that could keep you going for 100-odd hours or a 25-hour rampage with jets, rockets and giant sex toys.

If you aren't keen on oblivion or fallout I doubt you'll like Skyrim, it's a little different but the core gameplay is the same.

Though I personally wouldn't recommend Saint's Row 3 either, it plays like a washed up old comedian that tries to be funny but can't because he just doesn't have it anymore. It focuses too much on the funny part, and doesn't realise that it's not funny unless you have a relatively "straight" background.

If you don't like Bethesda games I'd say save your money and go for another game.

I asked the magic 8-ball...

Skyrim - "Outlook good"

Saints Row - "My sources say no"

So it is written, this prophecy is now sealed. Those who choose to break the seal, become a messenger for the end of the world, and an agent of Alduin!

Skyrim.

Saints Row 3 is not great in terms of lifespan nor is it a true sequel to Saints row 2 excluding the fact Saints Row 3 is more user friendly.

Platform matters as well, the bad reports from PS3 users doesn't seem to be getting any better for those playing skyrim.
