Publishers distribute new copies with codes, they don't have to worry because anyone buying it new will have a code. A used copy is taken by a distributor who know full well that the second hand copy is potentially missing a code. It's also your job as a consumer to make sure you're informed on your purchase.

But I maintain my point. If they wanted it kept a secret then they wouldn't have issued review copies with the pass. If they issue review copies with the online pass inside then it's guaranteed that information will be released. There's no note to the reviewers asking them to pretty please keep it from the consumers.
